Under the plan, the G6 is scheduled to enter production in Malaysia by March 31, 2026, while the X9 is expected to begin production by May 25, 2026.
On December 15, Xpeng Motors announced that it has signed a cooperation agreement with Malaysian automotive parts manufacturer EPMB Group, formally launching a localized production project in Malaysia.
This marks Xpeng’s third overseas localized manufacturing project, following earlier initiatives in Indonesia and Austria.

According to the plan, mass production is scheduled to begin in 2026, with the facility positioned as a regional production and supply hub for right-hand-drive markets across ASEAN.
In late October, Xpeng Vice Chairman and President Brian Gu stated during the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit that the company was evaluating Malaysia as a potential Southeast Asian hub for AI and technology development, while also discussing the feasibility of localized EV production with local governments and industry partners.
According to an announcement by EPMB, its wholly owned subsidiary PJVM will be responsible for assembling Xpeng’s G6 and X9 models.

The G6 is scheduled to begin production by March 31, 2026, while the X9 is expected to enter production by May 25, 2026. The two models cover the SUV and MPV segments respectively, aligning with demand in right-hand-drive markets.
Xpeng entered the Malaysian market in August last year through local partner Bermaz Auto, with the G6 launched shortly thereafter.
In March this year, the company introduced the all-electric MPV X9 locally. In July, Xpeng began assembling the X9 in Indonesia, establishing its first overseas manufacturing base.
On the sales front, Xpeng ranked among the top six pure electric vehicle brands in Malaysia between January and October this year. In September, the X9 secured the top position in Malaysia’s premium electric MPV segment.

Following Thailand and Indonesia, Malaysia is increasingly emerging as another manufacturing hub for Chinese automakers in Southeast Asia.
In April, Leapmotor announced plans to start localized production of the C10 at Stellantis’ Gurun plant in Kedah, Malaysia. In August, BYD also disclosed plans to build an electric vehicle assembly plant in Perak.
Xpeng is rapidly expanding its global footprint. From January to November, the company delivered 39,773 vehicles overseas, representing a year-on-year increase of 95%.
Its sales and service network now spans 52 countries and regions, supported by 321 overseas outlets.
