Huawei–GAC Joint Brand Qijing Kicks Off National Road Tests for First Model Ahead of June 2026 Launch

The vehicle will support L3-level intelligent driving capabilities and will remain aligned with Huawei’s latest Qiankun intelligent driving technologies.

Qijing, the joint brand established by Huawei and GAC, has launched nationwide road testing of its first production model, according to disclosures by Qijing CEO Liu Jiaming on social media.

Positioned as a shooting-brake coupe, the new vehicle is scheduled to enter the market in June 2026, marking the project’s transition into a substantive product validation phase.

Last night, Qijing officially released footage from the nationwide road tests. The video shows Liu Jiaming and Huawei Intelligent Automotive Solution BU CEO Jin Yuzhi jointly test-driving the prototype.

According to the company, the model is internally positioned as a “three-million-level” product, benchmarking premium-class experiences across exterior design, driving dynamics and intelligent technology.

Based on currently disclosed information, the vehicle has completed high-temperature testing in Xinjiang and has entered a multi-environment road test phase.

Upcoming tests will cover extreme cold, high heat and high-altitude conditions, with a focus on chassis dynamics, intelligent driving stability and overall ride comfort.

The test footage also shows the vehicle demonstrating precise steering response and strong lane-tracking performance on continuous variable-road sections, with chassis tuning described as a notable improvement over earlier testing conducted in Xiangyang, Hubei, China.

In terms of design, the vehicle adopts a shooting-brake coupe profile, featuring a low-slung stance and sharp body lines that emphasize sportiness and visual tension.

During the test drive, Liu noted that the model seeks to balance performance and interior space, aiming to move beyond the traditional perception of shooting-brake vehicles as visually appealing but limited in practicality.

Intelligent technology remains a core highlight of the Qijing project. Jin stated in the video that the vehicle will support L3-level intelligent driving capabilities and will remain aligned with Huawei’s latest Qiankun intelligent driving technologies.

The Qijing project originated from a deepened strategic cooperation agreement between GAC and Huawei reached at the end of 2023.

Unlike conventional component supply arrangements or the standard HI model, Qijing follows a more tightly integrated “HI Plus” collaboration approach.

The brand targets a tech-oriented, younger customer base in the RMB 300,000 to 400,000 segment ($42,000 to $56,000), placing it in direct competition with Tesla as well as domestic new-energy players such as NIO and Li Auto.

According to the plan, the shooting-brake coupe will be offered in both battery-electric and range-extended variants to address different user preferences for energy replenishment.
