Tesla China has officially listed a dual-zone trunk-mounted vehicle refrigerator on its online store, priced at RMB 2,499 ($371).
The fridge measures 67.5 cm × 43.0 cm × 36.1 cm, with a 33 L storage capacity and a weight of 14 kg.
The product adopts a dual-zone design, featuring two independent storage compartments. It supports temperature adjustments from -18°C to +18°C, allowing users to handle both freezing and refrigeration needs at the same time.

According to Tesla, the fridge is compatible with Model Y and Model Y L. Users can operate it by plugging directly into the vehicle’s power supply, with storage options for beverages, food and emergency medicine.
By comparison, the same refrigerator is priced at $595 on Tesla’s U.S. website, equivalent to roughly RMB 4,012. The China price is about 62% of the U.S. version.
The new accessory comes as Tesla continues upgrading its smart cockpit capabilities in China. On July 31, Tesla China rolled out the 2026.14.13 vehicle software update across Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X.
The biggest change is Tesla’s first integration of a third-party large language model into its China vehicle system — ByteDance’s Doubao AI model.
Doubao will operate as an in-car intelligent voice assistant, supporting real-time information searches, natural language conversations and multiple voice styles. Users can also select different character modes, including “All-Rounder,” “Music Lover” and “Storyteller.”

However, the feature requires activation of Tesla’s Premium Connectivity service.
China’s EV market has entered a new phase of competition, with more consumers treating cabin experience as a key buying factor. Vehicles are shifting from traditional “driving machines” toward mobile living spaces. Features such as refrigerators, large displays and premium comfort seats are becoming new benchmarks for smart cockpit experiences.
From adding an in-car fridge to integrating AI models, Tesla appears to be catching up with trends already widely adopted by Chinese EV makers.

Tesla delivered 27,249 vehicles in China in July 2026, down 51% from the previous month. Model Y sales reached 25,158 units, down 34.9% month on month. Model 3 sales totaled 2,091 units, plunging 85.3% from June.
In China’s EV market, domestic brands are increasingly strengthening competitiveness through larger displays, intelligent cabins, zero-gravity seats, refrigerators and other comfort-focused features.
