First Look at the Chery-Huawei Luxeed RX Interior

Takeaways
  • Luxeed RX debuts a five-screen “Flying Wing” cockpit with a 3.4-meter ambient light strip and driver-tilting 16.1-inch rotating screen.
  • Exterior channels Ferrari DNA with coupe-SUV proportions, 10 aerodynamic air channels, and a wide full-width star-diamond taillight.
  • Luxeed’s weak deliveries (29,611 YTD) mean the RX’s August 20 pricing must spark sales to meet a 30K–35K annual target.

Today, Luxeed, a joint automotive brand developed by Huawei and Chery, released the first interior video of its upcoming RX model.

The Luxeed RX cabin adopts a “Flying Wing” design theme. The interior features a floating wing-shaped layout, with a 3.4-meter hidden ambient light strip stretching across the dashboard.

The front cabin comes with five screens, including a 26-inch head-up display, digital instrument cluster, 16.1-inch central touchscreen, 8.88-inch passenger display, plus electronic rearview mirror screens on both sides.

The center display can rotate toward the driver, a feature also seen in the XPeng P7 and SAIC Z7, and is dubbed the “Sunflower” screen.

The steering wheel adopts a D-shaped sporty design, wrapped in leather. Its 39-point three-dimensional spoke structure adds a directional visual effect.

The Luxeed RX features sport seats with a white base color and red stitching. The seats use diamond-pattern leather surfaces, with an embroidered logo on the backrests. A microfiber suede headliner paired with detailed red stitching further enhances the cabin’s sporty atmosphere.

Looking at the exterior, the Luxeed RX was designed by a former Ferrari chief designer. The model adopts a dynamic curved body design, with a low-slung stance, long hood and short rear layout, creating a sporty GT-like appearance.

The side profile adopts a coupe SUV design. The overall silhouette shares similarities with Ferrari’s SUV model. The vehicle features semi-hidden door handles and hollow-style aerodynamic rearview mirrors. The brand claims the vehicle incorporates 10 aerodynamic air channels.

The rear adopts a wide-body low stance design, featuring a full-width star-diamond taillight system plus a blacked-out ducktail spoiler.

Chinese consumers have recently dubbed this design trend “FUV,” referring to a fusion of Ferrari-inspired styling with SUV proportions. More Chinese automakers are entering this segment.

Xiaomi YU7 was the first Chinese model to adopt a similar design approach. Data showed that after launching in late June 2025, the YU7 delivered more than 150K units within six months. In January this year, its monthly deliveries reached around 38K units, surpassing Tesla Model Y.

With the launch of the all-new SU7, Xiaomi YU7 sales began to slow. Monthly deliveries fell to 8,736 units in May. Sales have since stabilized at around 10K units per month, but remain well below the initial delivery peak after launch.

The trend reflects the real consumer response in China’s EV market. A 2026 market insight report from CATARC CCRT showed that mainstream buyers place greater emphasis on cabin vertical space, rear headroom, cargo flexibility and overall practicality when choosing large SUVs.

This means practicality often outweighs styling differentiation. Coupe-style SUVs remain a niche segment despite their stronger visual appeal.

For Luxeed, the RX has attracted significant online attention, but the brand still faces major challenges.

Delivery figures show Luxeed recorded 9,906 domestic deliveries in July. Its V9 model contributed 8,974 units, while the other two models accounted for only a small share. From January to July, Luxeed’s cumulative deliveries reached just 29,611 units, a concerning result in China’s highly competitive EV market.

Luxeed set an annual sales target of 30K-35K units at the beginning of the year. So far, the brand has achieved only 9.8% of its target. Whether the RX can drive Luxeed’s sales growth remains uncertain.

Luxeed RX is scheduled for an official launch on August 20, with pricing set to be the key factor for the model.
