- NIO has stockpiled at least 6,000 finished ES9s in factory lots and delivery centers ready for launch deliveries.
- Over 50,000 ES9 pre-orders with estimated >50% conversion imply well over 25,000 firm orders post-launch.
- ES9’s higher price and tech focus are pulling new buyers and reshaping the premium 500K+ RMB SUV competition.
NIO has built significant pre-launch inventory for the ES9, signaling strong confidence in order conversion.
Since pre-sales began on April 9, the ES9 has maintained high market interest. Factory parking lots now hold large volumes of finished vehicles, preparing for post-launch deliveries.

Sources close to NIO told ChinaEV Home that ES9 inventory has reached no less than 6,000 units. Additional reports show delivery centers already filled with vehicles, supporting a “launch-to-delivery” model.

Pre-launch preparation extends from factory stockpiles to city-level delivery deployment, indicating a fully ramped rollout strategy.
ChinaEV Home earlier reported that the yet-to-launch ES9 has secured over 50,000 pre-orders; frontline sales estimate conversion rates above 50%, implying firm orders are set to exceed 25,000 shortly after launch.
NIO CEO William Li said earlier that production ramp-up is well prepared, while warning of potential supply pressure. Orders after the ES9 tech event reached 1.5 times those of the ES8 launch; orders from non-NIO users also exceeded ES8 by over 1.5 times.
The data suggests ES9 is attracting new customers beyond existing users, expanding NIO’s buyer base.

Positioned as a “technology executive flagship SUV,” ES9 sits above ES8 in size, pricing, target use. ES8 focuses on family scenarios; ES9 targets executive, business users.
NIO delivered its 110,000th new ES8 unit on May 23. The model previously set a record as the fastest premium vehicle above 400K RMB ($58,000) to reach 100,000 deliveries, marking another milestone.

Whether ES9 can match ES8’s success remains a key question after launch.
NIO will unveil ES9 on May 27; a live broadcast with CCTV News on May 26 will test advanced safety features, release new safety technologies.
In China’s 500K+ RMB ($72,500) NEV SUV segment, Zeekr 9X leads, followed by AITO M9, Li Auto L9, Voyah Taishan rotating in the top three. ES9 is set to add a new variable to the “9-series” SUV competition.
