On July 29, Qualcomm China announced that Qualcomm Technologies and BMW Group had signed a long-term cooperation agreement.
Under the agreement, Qualcomm will supply computing chips for BMW Group’s next-generation digital cockpit and advanced driver assistance/autonomous driving (ADAS/AD) systems over the next decade.
The partnership covers multiple products within Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis portfolio, including the Snapdragon Cockpit Elite SoC and dedicated AI accelerators, which will serve as key computing platforms for BMW’s next-generation intelligent cockpit and driver assistance systems.
The two companies have, in fact, been working together for years.
Their latest milestone is a driver assistance system built on Snapdragon Ride Pilot, which entered mass production in November 2025 on the BMW iX3, the first production model in BMW’s Neue Klasse lineup.

Beyond BMW, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Ride platform has been adopted by several Chinese automakers, including BAIC Group, Beijing Hyundai, Chery, FAW Group, Leapmotor, SAIC-GM and SAIC Volkswagen.
To date, Snapdragon Ride has completed validation in more than 60 countries and regions worldwide, with over 20 automakers having launched or currently developing ADAS-equipped vehicles based on the platform.
As advanced driver assistance systems gain wider adoption in China, competition between international chipmakers and domestic suppliers continues to intensify.
China’s intelligent automotive chip market has evolved into an increasingly diversified competitive landscape.
International suppliers such as Qualcomm and Nvidia continue to hold significant positions in the high-end computing platform segment.
At the same time, domestic chipmakers including Horizon Robotics and Black Sesame Technologies are expanding mass production。
Meanwhile, automakers’ in-house chips—such as NIO’s Shenji, XPeng’s Turing and Li Auto’s Mach—are entering volume production, giving vehicle manufacturers greater control over core computing capabilities.
