Under the agreement, the two sides will cooperate in capital investment, new energy vehicles, advanced driver assistance, powertrains, power batteries, intelligent chassis, lightweight components, embodied intelligent robots and financial services. The deal upgrades their relationship from project-based cooperation to broader strategic coordination.

This is also the third time Leapmotor and FAW have expanded their partnership.

Their first cooperation began in March 2025, when both companies signed a strategic memorandum covering joint development of new energy vehicles, components cooperation and capital collaboration.

In December 2025, FAW further invested in Leapmotor through its investment arm. FAW Qixin Power also signed a powertrain cooperation agreement with Leapmotor, with both sides beginning joint development and production collaboration in plug-in hybrid and range-extender technologies.

The latest agreement comes shortly after Leapmotor released its first-half 2026 results.

Its overseas business has become another key growth driver. Leapmotor exported 96,294 vehicles in the first half, up 372.6% year on year. Exports accounted for about 27% of total deliveries during the period. The company expects overseas sales to reach about 200K units in 2026, with its 2027 target raised to 350K–400K units.
