BYD’s Blade Battery/Flash Charge Blade Battery Pass New National Standard Ahead of Schedule

This morning, Li Yunfei, general manager of BYD’s Public Relations Department, announced via social media that both BYD’s Blade Battery and Flash Charge Blade Battery have preemptively passed all items of the new battery national standard testing, obtaining certification from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC).

In May 2025, with the formal implementation of MIIT’s Technical Requirements and Test Methods for Electric Vehicle Traction Battery Endurance (GB 38031-2025), the power battery industry will face the most stringent safety and technological thresholds in history.

Key Requirements of the New Standard:

1. Extreme Condition Testing

  • Added 150J bottom impact test
  • Post-fast-charge safety verification (short-circuit detection after 300 fast-charge cycles)
  • Mandatory zero fire/explosion in scenarios including nail penetration, water immersion, and thermal runaway.

2. Lifespan & Performance Validation

  • Battery health (SOCE) must remain ≥82% after 5 years/100,000 km
  • Slow charging must demonstrate significantly lower lifespan degradation vs fast charging.
