From June 14 to 15, the FAW Toyota bZ5 simultaneously commenced deliveries across over 600 dealerships nationwide, covering more than 100 cities. This achieves the breakthrough of “delivery upon launch.”
As Toyota’s first new energy vehicle primarily developed by its Chinese engineering team, the bZ5 targets the midsize electric SUV market with an aggressive price range of ¥129,800 to ¥159,800(roughly USD 18,075-USD 22,253). This represents a 30% reduction compared to competing joint-venture models.
Notably, this strategy has proven highly effective with consumers. The bZ5 secured over 10,000 pre-orders within its first week at a pre-sale price of ¥130,000(roughly USD 18,103), creating significant waves in the joint-venture EV market.

Following its differentiated pricing strategy, FAW Toyota has simultaneously enhanced delivery efficiency. Leveraging Toyota’s global supply chain and experience in manufacturing 12 million vehicles annually, the company has established substantial on-the-ground inventory. This eliminates customers’ concerns about production-delay waits-a breakthrough in the EV sector.
Furthermore, the bZ5 emphasizes “intelligent safety,” featuring the newly integrated Toyota Pilot L2 driving assistance system. This system combines Momenta 5.0 urban ADAS with Toyota Safety Sense to create a significant technological highlight. During deliveries, specialists provide personalized walkthroughs to each owner, ensuring thorough understanding of Level 2 driving assist features. This customer-centric approach has earned positive feedback from numerous buyers.
The FAW Toyota bZ5’s rapid market penetration in lower-tier cities now rests entirely on its forthcoming sales performance.
