BYD to Launch Six New Models in UK by Next Year

At the UK launch for the new BYD Dolphin Surf, Steve Beattie, Mananger of Sales and Marketing at BYD UK, announced that the company will introduce six new models in the UK by the end of 2026.

The first addition will be the new BYD Atto 2, set to launch in September. Initial offerings will include all-electric versions with Standard and Long Range configurations. Beattie revealed that a plug-in hybrid DM-i variant will follow in 2026.

Additionally, the BYD Seal 06 (estate car and saloon) and the entry-level BYD Seal 05—both equipped with plug-in hybrid powertrains—will arrive in the UK by year-end.

Three yet-to-be-named models will also debut, widely speculated to include the BYD Seal 06 GT. A high-performance Seal X variant (up to 416 bhp) may follow later.

Having entered the UK market in 2023 with six existing models, BYD now plans to double its lineup within two years.

Existing models will also receive upgrades: the facelifted BYD Seal features an optimized interior and new lidar for enhanced driver-assistance systems, while the Atto 3 (BYD’s first UK model) will soon be refreshed.

Although unconfirmed, the BYD Shark hybrid pick-up truck may join the UK lineup. Its recently launched plug-in hybrid version offers 27 miles of electric-only range, with a total range of 62 miles powered by a 29.58kWh battery and 435bhp combined output.

Beattie confirmed that Australian-spec Shark units are already undergoing UK road tests: “We’re driving those around at the moment and it’s definitely been getting some really good and interesting reactions from the UK team.” He added, “We want that truck here, because I think there’s an opportunity for it here.”

BYD captured 2% of the UK new car market in April-May 2025. Beattie aims to sustain this share through June while targeting 20,000 sales in H1 2024. The brand plans to continue expanding its retail network: from 50 dealerships in early 2025 to 75 currently, projected to exceed 90 by September.
