Geely Auto Expands Into the Italian Market, Plans to Launch Two SUVs in Q4

This partnership marks an important step in Geely’s global strategy, utilizing Jameel Motors’ mature channel resources to quickly establish sales and after-sales systems in Italy.

Geely Auto has signed a distribution agreement with Jameel Motors for the Italian market, aiming to introduce Geely’s new energy vehicles into Italy.

Italy is not only a globally renowned automotive design hub but also one of the fastest-growing electric vehicle (EV) markets in Europe. In the first five months of 2025, Italy’s pure electric vehicle registration volume increased by 132% year-on-year, reflecting high consumer acceptance of electric vehicles in the country.

To this end, Geely plans to launch two models: the next-generation pure electric SUV EX5 (based on the Sustainable Experience Architecture platform) and a plug-in hybrid SUV. These two models will incorporate sporty design elements preferred by European consumers and will feature Geely’s latest intelligent driving assistance systems.

In addition, Geely is preparing to establish a complete sales and after-sales system in Italy, including a nationwide dealer network. Jameel Motors has rich experience in automotive distribution and has successfully operated brands like Toyota and Lexus. Its mature channel resources will help Geely quickly build its sales network and avoid unnecessary detours.

In fact, Geely has made significant moves in overseas expansion in recent years. For example, in Southeast Asia, Geely entered the Malaysian market through its acquisition of Proton; in Europe, besides Italy, Geely’s brand Zeekr has already started selling in countries like Sweden and the Netherlands; in the Middle East, Geely has gradually opened up the market through partnerships.

Moe Wang, Vice President of Geely Auto International Corporation, stated that entering Italy is an important step in their globalization strategy. This is true because the European market has always been a litmus test for the automotive industry, and establishing a foothold here will greatly help the brand’s image and global expansion.

Fady Jameel, Vice Chairman of Jameel Motors, also mentioned that both sides share a common vision for sustainable mobility. However, despite this vision, the competition will be tough, as European brands like Volkswagen and Stellantis are heavily investing in electric vehicles.

If Geely can establish itself with strong product capabilities and localized cooperation, it will not only pave the way for entering other Southern European markets like Spain and Portugal, but also provide valuable experience for Chinese new energy vehicle brands looking to expand overseas.
