Apollo Go Partners with Lyft, Autonomous Fleet to Launch in Germany and the UK by 2026

Apollo Go’s sixth-generation autonomous vehicles will debut in Germany and the UK in 2026, featuring significant upgrades in sensor systems, algorithm optimization, and energy efficiency.

On August 4, Baidu’s autonomous mobility service platform Apollo Go announced a strategic partnership with ride-hailing platform Lyft. The two companies plan to jointly offer autonomous ride services in Europe via the Lyft platform.

According to the plan, Apollo Go’s sixth-generation autonomous vehicles will first be launched in Germany and the UK in 2026, followed by a gradual scale-up to thousands of vehicles across Europe, enabling large-scale deployment of autonomous mobility services.

The sixth-generation vehicle represents Baidu’s most advanced autonomous driving technology to date. While specific technical specifications have yet to be released, major improvements are expected in areas such as sensor configuration, algorithmic precision, and energy efficiency.

This partnership marks the largest autonomous vehicle fleet initiative in Europe to date.

Baidu founder Robin Li emphasized that the collaboration with Lyft extends beyond vehicle deployment. It will integrate Baidu’s cutting-edge autonomous driving technology with Lyft’s operational expertise to offer European users safer, greener, and more efficient mobility services.

The European market is widely regarded as an ideal testing ground for scaled deployment of autonomous driving technology. Industry analysts point out that Europe’s well-developed road infrastructure and highly digitized societal systems create favorable conditions for such innovations.

This collaboration marks the first large-scale entry of a Chinese autonomous driving technology company into Europe’s core markets.

Notably, Apollo Go’s recent global expansion has attracted attention. On July 15, Apollo Go announced a strategic partnership with Uber to deploy thousands of autonomous vehicles across multiple global markets.

Currently, Apollo Go has deployed over 1,000 autonomous vehicles in 15 cities including Hong Kong, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi. It has provided more than 11 million rides and safely traveled over 170 million kilometers.
