Li Auto i8 Aims to Deliver Over 8,000 Units by End of September

The first batch of Li Auto i8 deliveries will begin on August 20, with a goal of 8,000–10,000 units delivered by the end of September.

On August 13, Li Auto announced on Weibo that its factory is operating at full capacity to ensure the delivery of over 8,000 i8 units by the end of September.

The company stated, “At the same time, together with our supply chain partners, we will challenge the 10,000-unit delivery target, striving to allow more users to receive their new cars before the National Day holiday.”

As more reservation holders lock in their orders, Li Auto has updated the estimated delivery time for the i8 on its app and official website.

Currently, the website shows that for orders placed now, the estimated delivery time is 10–12 weeks, shortened by about two weeks compared to the previous 10–14 weeks.

The Li Auto i8 was launched on July 29, marking the company’s second pure electric model after the Li Mega MPV.

In the early stage after launch, the company adjusted its product strategy based on market feedback. On August 5, it streamlined the original Pro, Max, and Ultra versions into a single configuration—the i8 Max—with a unified price of 339,800 RMB ($47,572).

Following the official announcement, Li Auto CEO Li Xiang also addressed public attention on Weibo, interpreting the delivery targets and recent adjustments.

Li Xiang stated that the i8’s order volume shows that target customers recognize its positioning as “off-road capability of an SUV, handling of a luxury sedan, and comfort of an MPV.” He added that the previously much-discussed styling was one of the reasons many customers chose it. Regarding the change from three versions to one, he called it a “major test” of the company’s rapid response capability in supply chain, production, and sales.

It is worth noting that Li Auto plans to launch a smaller pure electric SUV in September—the Li Auto i6—positioned below the i8, with a price expected to be lower than that of the i8.

Data shows that in July, Li Auto delivered 30,731 new vehicles, down 39.74% year-on-year and 15.29% month-on-month.
