Zeekr VP Zhu Ling Reassigned, Rumored to Join Volvo

  • Geely Holding is the parent company, with Volvo, Zeekr, and Lynk & Co under its umbrella.
  • Zeekr has been fully integrated into Geely Auto, Lynk & Co is controlled by Zeekr, while Volvo continues to operate independently.

On the evening of August 26, Dr. Zhu Ling, Vice President of Zeekr Technology Group and Head of the Lynk & Co product division, confirmed via personal social media that he will step down from his role leading the Lynk & Co product team due to a job reassignment. He hinted at his departure from Zeekr Group, posting that he was submitting his “final assignment.” His next position has not yet been officially announced.

Zhu Ling, Zeekr’s VP, confirmed via Weibo that he will reassign the job.

Dr. Zhu brings over 14 years of experience in the automotive industry. He joined Geely Auto in 2014 and became Vice President at the Geely Auto Research Institute’s Lynk & Co brand research division.

In early 2025, Zeekr merged with the Lynk & Co brand to form Zeekr Technology Group, with Zhu appointed as Group Vice President, responsible for product development and related functions.

Since taking on the Lynk & Co brand in December 2024, Zhu oversaw the finalization of seven new models in just nine months, including the all-new 07 and 08, the third-generation 03/03+ facelift, as well as model-year updates for the Zeekr 007, 7X, and X.

In early May, Zeekr Group restructured its dual-brand marketing and management framework, appointing Lin Jie to oversee marketing for both Zeekr and Lynk & Co. Meanwhile, former VP Lin Jinwen was moved to user services, establishing a “Lin Jie leading the front, Zhu Ling handling technical delivery” collaboration model.

On August 1, Zeekr released sales data showing that deliveries in July reached 44,200 units, up 20% year-on-year and 3% month-on-month. From January to July, cumulative sales totaled 288,000 units, approximately 40% of the full-year target of 710,000 units.

According to insiders, following his reassignment, all Zeekr C-line products (007, 007 GT, 7XX) have been consolidated under the Z-line, managed by Z-line head Xu Yun. This signals a major internal restructuring, aligning the group’s resource integration and product line management closer to the “One Geely” system.

Zhu’s reassignment marks a key step in Zeekr’s shift from “independent operations” toward “Geely system resource collaboration.” Internally, the group is promoting shared manufacturing facilities, battery technologies, and supply chain systems between Lynk & Co and Zeekr.

Industry speculation is rife regarding Dr. Zhu’s next move. Rumors suggest he could take a senior role at Volvo (acquired by Geely in 2010), though his next appointment has not yet been officially confirmed.
