With over 35,000 units sold in just 39 days, the Sealion 06 has quickly become BYD’s latest blockbuster.
BYD Ocean Network GM Zhang Zhuo said on social media the Sealion 06 delivered 30,483 units in August, bringing 39-day cumulative sales to 35,483.

That month, BYD Group’s passenger-car sales totaled 371,501, with the Ocean Network contributing 189,340.

Launched on July 24, the Sealion 06 is offered in both DM-i plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and battery electric vehicle (EV) variants, priced at RMB 139,800–156,800 ($19,600–$21,950) for the DM-i and RMB 143,800–163,800 ($20,130–$22,940) for the EV. The model measures 4,650 × 1,880 × 1,620 mm, with a 2,775 mm wheelbase, and is positioned as a compact five-seat SUV.
Compared with BYD’s earlier mainstay models in the RMB 150,000 ($21,000) range—the Song Pro and Song PLUS—the Sealion 06 adopts the Ocean Network’s updated design language and enhanced smart features, bridging the gap between the Song L and the wider Song lineup.

The Sealion 06’s momentum also lifted the series: Sealion family sales hit 53,279 in August, 28% of Ocean Network’s monthly total (189,340).
Its rapid ramp suggests strong breakout potential, adding incremental volume to BYD’s SUV lineup in H2.
