If the target of reaching a monthly production capacity of 25,000 units by December is achieved as planned, this model is poised to become a significant growth driver for Li Auto in the pure electric vehicle market.
The Li Auto i6 was launched on September 26, following the pricing strategy of the Li ONE by offering a single configuration priced at RMB 249,800 ($35,000), and officially commenced deliveries on September 27.
Li Auto adopted a novel launch strategy for this model, skipping the preliminary reservation phase and proceeding directly to the official market release. Customers are given only 7 days to decide whether to finalize their orders. It has been reported that even before the announcement of the brand’s first ambassador on September 25, the number of users in China who had shown interest in the i6 had already exceeded 100,000, making it the Li Auto model with the fastest-growing popularity.

An employee from Li Auto’s sales department revealed: “Although the specific sales figures for the i6 are not known, the internal update we received in our meeting this morning (September 27) is that i6 sales have already surpassed those of the L9 during its initial launch.” He added, “Now it’s not just external customers rushing to buy the i6; even internal employees, including those from retail, delivery, and after-sales departments, are purchasing the i6”.
According to ChinaEV Home, to ensure delivery schedules, the latest weekly production plan for Li Auto’s Changzhou factory indicates that the capacity allocated for the i6 within this year (including September) is projected to be between 45,000 and 50,000 units.
According to the company’s plan, there were 7,000 vehicles available in September, mostly rear-wheel-drive versions. Starting in October, production at the Changzhou plant began to ramp up, reaching 13,000 units. Under ideal conditions, the planned production figures for November and December are 23,000 and 25,000 units, respectively.
It is worth noting that prior to the i6’s launch, Li Auto’s sales organization held a national sales representative conference in Changzhou. The main agenda of this meeting was to communicate the headquarters’ sales timeline for the i6 to the various regional teams, along with the sales target for the vehicle—to strive to absorb the entire year’s production capacity by the end of October.

As major new automakers successively release their key models this year, overcoming the delivery challenge will directly impact each company’s year-end performance.
NIO CEO William Li mentioned in a previous interview that before the launch of the new ES8, they had communicated with suppliers about a production capacity of 40,000 units for the final three months of the year. XPeng Motors CEO He Xiaopeng also set a bold target in August when the XPeng P7 went on sale: for the P7 to rank among the top three in its segment for sedans, and XPeng is essentially preparing production capacity with the goal of achieving a top-three position.
Li Auto’s production capacity plan for the i6 reflects the company’s positive expectations regarding market demand. If the target of reaching a monthly production capacity of 25,000 units by December is achieved as planned, this model is poised to become a significant growth driver for Li Auto in the pure electric vehicle market.
