GAC, CATL, JD.com Address Aion UT Super User Complaints, Roll Out Incentives

GAC, CATL and JD.com announced incentives, including $7.00 for an extra 1,000-km mileage pack, $367 service package giveaway, additional cities added for invoice issuance, and more flexible refund policies.

On December 1, GAC, CATL and JD.com held a joint “Open-Mic User Forum” for the Aion UT Super, addressing concerns and complaints raised by users in recent weeks.

Responding to questions over whether the vehicle includes a sunroof, Yang Long, Vice President of GAC Aion BU, said circulating claims about the feature originated from an illustrative image used when introducing a cooperation model in the Aion community, rather than from any official configuration documentation.

He acknowledged oversight in content review and said the company has corrected the materials and initiated a full audit.

The company emphasized that the officially published configuration tables on all platforms since launch have never listed a sunroof.

Regarding the BaaS model, some users expressed concern that the 3,000-km base mileage included in the RMB 399 ($56) household package is insufficient.

Deng Xu, Vice President of CATL E-Services, explained that the mileage structure is based on real driving data from large family-user samples and is designed to charge users only for what they actually use.

In addition to unused mileage being rolled over to the following month, the three companies will introduce a RMB 50 ($7.00) 1,000-km mileage add-on package in December to reflect diverse driving needs.

Addressing complaints that invoices can currently be issued only in Guangzhou and Shanghai, Lu Huan, head of automotive marketing at JD.com, said the restriction is intended to ensure eligibility for local subsidy policies and does not affect vehicle registration or insurance across other regions.

For users requesting invoice issuance in other cities, all three companies confirmed that additional cities will be enabled in the near term, and Guangzhou subsidies will remain available through the end of January next year.

To compensate for earlier service-coordination shortcomings, GAC Aion announced that users placing deposits for Aion UT Super before December 31 will receive a complimentary RMB 2,600 ($367) “Worry-Free Service Package,” which includes free car washes and vehicle care services.

To respect user choice, the companies also committed to refund flexibility. Users who paid a RMB 5,000 ($700) deposit between November 9 and 23 without having finalized customization may request a refund.

For orders confirmed on or after November 24, refund applications will be allowed within 48 hours.

Later that afternoon, the 1,000th Aion UT Super was delivered in Beijing, marking a milestone with more than 1,000 units delivered in the first week since launch.
