BYD Germany Sales Surge Eightfold to 4,026 Units in Nov, Tesla Drops 20.2%

BYD‘s cumulative registrations for the first 11 months rose to 19,197 units in Germany, with monthly market share expanding to 1.6%.

New EV registrations in Germany reached 55,741 units in November, up 58.5% year-on-year and accounting for more than 22% of all new vehicles, according to the latest data from the German Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA).

Within this wave of growth, BYD stood out prominently.

Tesla continued to lose ground in the German market. The company registered 1,763 new vehicles in November, down 20.2% from a year earlier.

Cumulative sales for the first 11 months reached only 17,358 units, representing a 48.4% year-on-year decline.

In contrast, BYD registered 4,026 vehicles in November, surpassing Tesla by a wide margin and marking an 834% year-on-year increase.

Its cumulative registrations for the first 11 months rose to 19,197 units. BYD’s monthly market share expanded to 1.6%, placing it in the same tier as traditional brands such as Fiat, Citroën and Mazda.

Among BYD’s top-selling models in Germany, the ATTO 3 (Yuan PLUS in China) starts at €38,000 ($41,985).

The Seal U DM-i (Song PLUS in China) is priced from €41,990 ($46,381) in Germany. Since its European launch nine months ago, the model has recorded cumulative sales of 50,141 units.

Germany’s auto market has accelerated its shift toward electrification in recent months. Both the national car importers association and the international automakers association expect 2026 to mark a key inflection point, with annual new EV registrations potentially reaching 740,000 units.

BYD’s momentum in Europe extends beyond Germany. In Spain, BYD registered 2,934 vehicles in November, up 267.7% year-on-year, bringing its cumulative total this year to 22,357 units, a 452% increase from the same period last year.

Maria Grazia Davino, BYD’s General Manager for Europe, recently said the company will have 1,000 sales outlets in Europe by the end of this year, with plans to double that footprint next year.

Data also shows BYD’s overseas sales of passenger vehicles and pickups reached more than 130,000 units in November, up 297% year-on-year and hitting a record high.

Overseas sales for the first 11 months exceeded 910,000 units, raising the share of exports to 21.8% of total volume.
