After the latest share purchase, the two founders and their affiliated major shareholder group together hold about 209 million H-shares and 129 million domestic shares, representing 23.75% of Leapmotor’s total share capital.
On the evening of December 11, Leapmotor (9863.HK) announced on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that company founder, chairman and CEO Zhu Jiangming, together with shareholder Fu Liquan, have once again increased their stake, purchasing shares at an average price of HKD 50.51. The latest transaction exceeds HKD 100 million ($14 million).

This marks their second share purchase in less than two months and the third so far this year.
According to the filing, after the latest increase, the two individuals and their affiliated single largest shareholder group now hold around 209 million H-shares and 129 million domestic shares, bringing their combined ownership to 23.75% of the company.
To date, the group has accumulated more than HKD 950 million ($133 million) in total share purchases.
In a recent media interview, Zhu said Leapmotor’s stock performance mirrors the company’s operating trajectory—“a slow burn”—and is well suited for value-driven, long-term investment. He added that he tends to buy on dips.
Leapmotor’s sales performance has remained steady among China’s new-energy vehicle startups this year.
Although the broader auto market has shown signs of cooling since entering Q4, the momentum driven by the Lafa5 has continued, helping the company exceed 70,000 monthly deliveries in both October and November. Leapmotor has now ranked first among the new-energy startups for nine consecutive months.

On November 15, the company announced that it had completed its 500,000-unit annual sales target 45 days ahead of schedule and simultaneously unveiled a new target of 1 million units for 2026.
Financially, Leapmotor posted revenue of RMB 19.45 billion ($2.72 billion) in the third quarter of 2025, up 97.3% year-on-year. Net profit remained positive for another quarter at RMB 150 million ($21 million), and the company expects to be profitable for the full year.
Market attention has also centered on the potential equity partnership between China FAW and Leapmotor.
Zhu Jiangming previously denied rumors of a full acquisition by FAW in a comment to Yicai, later stressing that he hopes the founding team maintains controlling power.
At the time of publication, Leapmotor’s shares were up 1.22% at HKD 49.72.
