BYD Launches Tang L in Middle East Markets as Atto 8

In the Middle East, the BYD Atto 8 is offered in two variants, DM-i and DM-p, both equipped with BYD’s fifth-generation DM Super Hybrid system.

On December 17, BYD announced that its new large seven-seat plug-in hybrid SUV, the Tang L, has officially launched in Middle East markets under the name BYD Atto 8.

The initial rollout covers Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and Qatar, with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain to follow.

Positioned for both family use and daily commuting, the Atto 8 emphasizes interior space, driving range and adaptability across multiple usage scenarios.

In terms of dimensions, the BYD Atto 8 measures more than five meters in length with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm, retaining the Tang L’s advantages as a mid-to-large seven-seat SUV.

On the powertrain side, the DM-i version delivers a combined driving range of up to 728 km, targeting a balance between long-distance travel and everyday efficiency.

The DM-p version offers a combined maximum output of 359 kW and is equipped with BYD’s DiSus-C intelligent body control system, enhancing stability and handling under complex road conditions.

The Tang L’s overseas expansion builds on its domestic launch earlier this year. On April 9, BYD introduced the Tang L DM and Tang L EV series in China, with prices ranging from RMB 229,800 to RMB 289,800 ($32,172–$40,572).

As the flagship SUV under BYD’s Dynasty lineup, the Tang L plays a key role in the brand’s move toward higher-end segments.

The Middle East’s strong preference for large SUVs has made the region a priority market for the model’s international rollout.

From a broader perspective, BYD’s product portfolio in the Middle East is taking shape. To date, the company has introduced nine models in the region, including five PHEVs and four BEVs, spanning sedans and SUVs.

The addition of the Tang L fills a gap in BYD’s mid-to-large SUV offering in the local market.

Sales data show that in November, BYD’s Dynasty lineup sold a total of 184,338 new energy vehicles. The Tang family accounted for 13,252 units, of which the Tang L contributed 2,293 units.
