SAIC MG New Sedan Spotted in Testing, Likely Named MG07

The model is expected to target the RMB 150,000–200,000 ($21,800–$29,060) EV coupe segment, differentiating itself from the fuel-powered MG7.

Spy shots of a new SAIC MG sedan have surfaced online, with the model expected to be named MG07.

According to images posted by automotive blogger @德卤爱开车, the vehicle is unrelated to the current MG7 and is instead built on a new architecture.

From the camouflaged prototype, the new car retains MG’s sporty design language. It features a pronounced fastback silhouette, sculpted hood lines, and a sharply contoured front grille and headlamp cluster.

A roof-mounted LiDAR unit is visible, indicating advancements in intelligent driving capabilities. The vehicle adopts semi-concealed door handles rather than fully hidden ones, balancing aerodynamic styling with practicality.

At the rear, the sedan is expected to feature a full-width taillight assembly. Interior details remain limited, though the exposed steering wheel design shows dual-side multifunction controls with a driver-oriented layout.

According to the blogger, the new model is likely to adopt a Momenta intelligent driving solution.

In terms of platform DNA, it is described as being closer to the Shangjie Z7, with an overall product philosophy clearly differentiated from the fuel-powered MG7.

MG previously released a teaser image of the model but disclosed no further technical specifications.

For reference, the current MG7 carries an official suggested retail price range of RMB 137,900–178,900 ($20,030–$26,000), with limited-time subsidies lowering prices to RMB 116,900–154,900 ($16,990–$22,510).

If the MG07 adopts a dedicated electrified platform, it would fill MG’s gap in the RMB 150,000–200,000 ($21,800–$29,060) pure electric sport sedan segment.

Official data show that in January 2026, SAIC Passenger Vehicle, including MG and Roewe, recorded sales of 77,000 units, up 53.8% year on year, with MG contributing the majority of incremental growth.

In overseas markets, MG ranked second in monthly sales in the UK auto market in December last year, surpassing Ford, Hyundai and Toyota.

In January 2026, SAIC MG delivered nearly 26,000 vehicles in Europe, up approximately 15% YoY, maintaining its position as the best-selling Chinese automotive brand in Europe for the 11th consecutive year.

In recent days, SAIC MG announced that the MG brand has become the first Chinese automaker to surpass one million cumulative sales in Europe and the UK, and revealed that the new MG4 EV Urban and the 2026 MG4 EV have been launched in the UK market.
