SAIC August Sales Reach 357K Units as Overseas Sales Jump 57.7%

On Sept. 1, SAIC Motor released its August 2026 sales figures. The group sold 357,000 vehicles in August, bringing cumulative sales for the first eight months to 2.741 million units.

Self-owned brands continued to account for a growing share of group sales.

SAIC’s self-owned brands sold 273,000 vehicles in August, up 18% YoY, extending their year-on-year growth streak to eight consecutive months.

Self-owned brand sales reached 1.999 million units in the first eight months, up 14.2% YoY and accounting for 72.9% of the group’s total sales.

NEV sales grew even faster. SAIC sold 191,000 NEVs in August, up 47.1% YoY, while cumulative NEV sales for the first eight months reached 1.163 million units, up 30.2%.

SAIC Passenger Vehicle sold 353,000 NEVs in the first eight months, up 214.5% YoY, while SAIC Maxus sold 64,000 NEVs, up 76.8%.

SAIC-GM-Wuling sold 504,000 NEVs during the same period, with the Huajing S exceeding 7,300 deliveries in August and posting month-on-month delivery growth for four consecutive months.

New brands and models are also contributing an increasing share of sales. IM Motors sold 52,000 vehicles in the first eight months, up 64% YoY.

All-new IM L6

At the end of August, the new-generation IM L6 was launched with limited-time pricing starting at RMB 199,900 ($29,750), with a steer-by-wire chassis offered as standard across the lineup.

Meanwhile, the MG4 family recorded more than 17,000 deliveries in August, while firm orders for the MG 07 exceeded 31,000 units.

NEV sales also increased across SAIC’s joint-venture operations. SAIC-GM sold 76,000 NEVs in the first eight months, up 64% YoY, while SAIC Volkswagen sold 43,000 NEVs, up 8%.

Compared with the domestic market, overseas operations have become a more significant source of incremental growth for SAIC this year.

MG 07

SAIC’s overseas sales reached 139,000 vehicles in August, up 57.7% YoY, bringing cumulative overseas sales for the first eight months to 1.016 million units, up 52.9%.

MG remains the core brand of SAIC’s overseas business. MG sold 241,000 vehicles in Europe during the first eight months, up 22.3% YoY, ranking among the top brands in several markets including France, Ireland and Italy.

Meanwhile, with several new vessels, including Anji Jisheng, entering service, SAIC’s independently operated ocean-going vehicle carrier fleet now has annual transport capacity exceeding 600,000 vehicles.

Its routes cover major global markets, providing a stable shipping capacity for vehicle exports.
