- Denza is sending its 1,180 kW Z Special Edition to the Nürburgring to prove supercar credentials.
- Track-focused Z Racing gains big aero, suspension and tire upgrades to target serious lap times.
- BYD aims to pivot Denza from luxury family image to track-proven global premium performance brand.
BYD’s premium brand Denza has officially announced that its flagship electric supercar, the Denza Z, will take on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, targeting one of the world’s most demanding track performance benchmarks. The move marks Denza’s latest attempt to strengthen its high-performance image through motorsport-style validation.

The Denza Z is already available in Europe, offering three variants: Coupe, Spider, and Racing. The models are priced at £142.9K (RMB 1,292.6K), £159.9K (RMB 1,457.6K), and £172.9K (RMB 1,576.1K), respectively.
The electric supercar features a triple-motor setup producing more than 500kW + 340kW + 340kW, with a combined system output of 1,180kW. It adopts BYD’s proprietary technologies, including the e³ Intelligent Vehicle Control Platform, DiSus-M intelligent magnetic suspension body control system, and the second-generation Blade Battery.
For the Chinese market, the Denza Z is scheduled to launch in the fourth quarter of 2026, with reservations opening on July 13.
Denza’s official teaser shows the Nürburgring-bound model is the Denza Z Special Edition, based on the Racing variant with further track-focused upgrades.

The vehicle uses Giti Tire, the same tire brand selected by BYD’s Yangwang U9 X during its Nürburgring challenge. BYD’s accumulated experience in tire tuning and chassis calibration from previous Nürburgring programs could provide additional support for the Denza Z’s lap performance.
The special edition also features a larger fixed rear wing, dedicated aerodynamic body components, and DENZA racing-style graphics.
For Denza, a brand historically positioned around luxury comfort and intelligent technology, the Nürburgring challenge carries two strategic goals.
First, the Nordschleife represents one of the toughest tests of vehicle limits, offering a showcase for BYD’s EV technology. Denza General Manager Li Hui said the Nürburgring lap attempt is not only a battle of speed, but also a demonstration of engineering capability. She expressed confidence in the performance potential of Chinese electric supercars on the track.

Second, Denza aims to use Nürburgring performance data to strengthen the Denza Z’s racing identity, reshaping market perceptions of the brand beyond luxury family vehicles.
Among Chinese automakers using track performance to build a performance image, Xiaomi has become a notable example. The Nürburgring lap results of the Xiaomi SU7 and YU7 have helped establish the brand’s reputation as a high-performance EV player.
From its global debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed to Nürburgring validation, the Denza Z is advancing its international expansion through both product rollout and track testing. The model is positioning Denza for a larger role in the global premium electric supercar market.
