Takeaways
  • Tianshu Xin named head of China and Asia‑Pacific for Stellantis, reporting directly to CEO Antonio Filosa.
  • Stellantis bet strengthens on China ties, leveraging Leapmotor stake and partnerships to accelerate EV and supply‑chain transformation.
  • Pablo Di Si joins as chief performance officer to drive value creation and operational efficiency across the group.

Stellantis has announced a management reshuffle, appointing Tianshu Xin as head of China and Asia-Pacific operations, effective Aug. 3, 2026.

Under the new arrangement, Xin will report directly to Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa and join the group’s leadership team. Current China chief Grégoire Olivier will move into a strategic advisory role, continuing to support Stellantis’ China operations.

Xin previously oversaw Stellantis’ partnership with Chinese EV maker Leapmotor.

In February 2025, Stellantis appointed Xin as chief operating officer of its China operations, where he was responsible for the “Stellantis-Leapmotor” strategic alliance. Since November 2023, he has also served as CEO of Leapmotor International, leading the company’s overseas expansion.

In October 2023, Stellantis invested around €1.5B ($1.71B) to acquire a roughly 20% stake in Leapmotor, while establishing the Leapmotor International joint venture.

Through the partnership, Stellantis has leveraged Leapmotor’s EV technology capabilities to expand into overseas markets, while Leapmotor has used Stellantis’ global distribution network to accelerate international growth.

The partnership has become one of Stellantis’ key examples of exploring China’s new energy vehicle ecosystem. Leapmotor International achieved profitability in 2025.

Xin’s promotion to lead China and Asia-Pacific operations signals Stellantis is placing greater strategic weight on its China business.

Over the past few years, Stellantis has faced increasing pressure in China as the market rapidly shifted toward electrification and smart technologies. Sales of Peugeot, Citroen, Jeep and other brands have continued to decline.

Under CEO Antonio Filosa’s strategic overhaul, Stellantis is reducing reliance on a single development path, while strengthening cooperation with Chinese EV makers and supply chain companies.

Beyond Leapmotor, Stellantis has expanded cooperation with Dongfeng Motor this year, while advancing a European battery project with CATL. The group aims to leverage Chinese companies’ strengths in electrification, intelligent driving, and supply chains to accelerate its global transformation.

Meanwhile, Stellantis has appointed Pablo Di Si as chief performance officer, tasked with driving value creation plans and improving operational efficiency. Di Si previously served as president and CEO of Volkswagen Group North America, bringing extensive global automotive management experience.

For Stellantis, China is no longer just a sales market. It is becoming a key partner in its EV transition. How to leverage China’s new energy vehicle ecosystem to rebuild global competitiveness will become a critical part of Stellantis’ new strategy.
