- Dongfeng Nissan teases sporty NX7 SUV with illuminated badge and split headlights, targeting younger buyers.
- NX7 likely adds LiDAR-equipped intelligent driving from Momenta and shares tech with NX8.
- Expected BEV and range-extender variants aim at RMB120K–150K pricing to broaden Nissan’s EV entry lineup.
Dongfeng Nissan has released teaser images for its upcoming NX7 SUV, marking another step in the Japanese automaker’s push to expand its new energy vehicle lineup in China.
The company’s latest model is expected to follow Nissan’s new energy design language. The teaser image shows a split-headlight layout similar to the already launched NX8, along with an illuminated Nissan badge positioned at the front.

Compared with the NX8’s more family-oriented styling, the NX7 adopts sharper body lines with a sportier stance, targeting younger consumers.
The SUV also features a visible roof-mounted LiDAR module, suggesting it may share Nissan’s latest intelligent driving solution with the NX8. The system is expected to use Momenta’s advanced driving technology, supporting highway navigation assistance and urban intelligent driving functions.
In terms of powertrain, the NX7 is expected to continue Nissan’s dual-energy strategy, offering both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and range-extender versions to meet different driving scenarios and charging needs.
The NX7 is expected to enter China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) filing catalog this month, with full details on dimensions, power output and specifications to be disclosed later.

As a reference model, the NX8, launched on April 8, is positioned as a mid-size electric SUV. It is built on an 800V silicon carbide platform, equipped with CATL lithium iron phosphate batteries, and supports 5C ultra-fast charging technology. The NX8 measures 4,870mm in length, 1,920mm in width and 1,680mm in height, with a 2,917mm wheelbase.
Based on the current product positioning, the NX7 is expected to sit below the NX8, likely entering the $17.8K-$22.2K (RMB 120K-150K) price range. The model could further lower the entry threshold for Nissan’s new energy SUVs, creating a higher-low-end product mix with the NX8.
Among Toyota, Honda and Nissan, Dongfeng Nissan has made relatively faster progress in new energy transformation, supported by a dual-product strategy covering the N-series sedans and NX-series SUVs.

Data showed Dongfeng Nissan’s new energy models recorded 36,484 retail sales in the first half of 2026, with N-series and NX-series models contributing more than 90% of total sales.
Nissan’s earlier EV attempt in China started with the Ariya, but the model struggled to gain traction due to mismatched product competitiveness and pricing strategy.

The launch of the N7 in April 2025 became a turning point for Nissan’s China EV strategy. Developed under a joint technology program with Dongfeng, the N7 quickly gained momentum in the electric sedan market, delivering 45,382 units in 2025. The model laid the foundation for the rapid expansion of Nissan’s N-series and NX-series product families.
In December 2025, Dongfeng Nissan launched the N6, the first plug-in hybrid sedan under the N-series. Targeting value-focused consumers with fuel efficiency advantages, the model delivered 13,933 units in the first half of 2026, becoming a key volume driver in Nissan’s entry-level segment.

Nissan is also accelerating its SUV electrification strategy. The NX8, the brand’s first new energy SUV in China, entered the market in April 2026. Its deliveries have continued to rise, reaching 12,211 units by the end of June 2026.
With the N-series sedans and NX-series SUVs, Dongfeng Nissan has built a new energy product portfolio covering the mainstream $14.8K-$31.1K (RMB 100K-210K) market segment.
The NX7 represents another move by Dongfeng Nissan to expand its electric SUV lineup and strengthen its presence among younger SUV buyers.
For Dongfeng Nissan, its joint-venture brand reputation and product reliability remain key advantages. However, the company still needs to narrow the gap with leading Chinese automakers in battery technology, cabin experience and intelligent driving features.
