GAC Group’s low-altitude mobility brand GOVY has completed high-temperature and high-altitude validation tests for its first production multi-rotor flying car, GOVY AirCab.

The tests were carried out in Gansu, China, where the vehicle faced extreme conditions including intense heat, low air pressure and sandstorms.

GOVY AirCab is the brand’s first production-oriented multi-rotor flying car developed for the emerging low-altitude economy. The aircraft adopts a pure-electric powertrain with a six-axis, 12-rotor configuration.

The AirCab features a two-seat cabin. More than 90% of its body structure uses aviation-grade carbon fiber composite materials, reducing weight by over 30% compared with traditional metal structures.

In terms of intelligence, the aircraft is equipped with a computing platform delivering more than 500 TOPS of processing power. It supports L4-level intelligent flight capabilities, with environmental detection covering more than 300 meters.

The aircraft also features redundant flight-control navigation systems, full-process status monitoring and cloud-based self-diagnosis functions.

For energy replenishment, GOVY AirCab supports high-voltage fast charging. The battery can charge from 50% to 100% within 15 minutes, offering a flight range of 20-30 km.

During the latest validation program, GOVY AirCab completed more than 30 km of autonomous route flights. The aircraft demonstrated autonomous path planning, stable cruising and precise landing capabilities.

The tests verified battery continuous discharge performance and overall system stability under high-temperature, low-pressure environments.

During wind-resistance trials, the aircraft maintained stability under a forward speed of 18 m/s while resisting strong crosswinds of 13 m/s.

It also completed high-speed coordinated turns under wind interference. Through multiple disturbance tests, GOVY AirCab achieved handling qualities equivalent to the ADS-33 Level 1 standard, improving flight stability in complex weather conditions.

The testing team also evaluated operations in challenging scenarios, including complex terrain takeoff and landing, extreme power output and emergency avoidance.

The aircraft completed continuous climbing and descending tests on slopes with gradients of up to 50%.

It also continued validating thermal management performance, cooling efficiency and component protection capability under temperatures above 50°C, low-pressure conditions and heavy dust environments.

GAC GOVY said all testing programs met expected targets, providing technical validation for future mass production, airworthiness certification and commercial operations.

At its global debut event in Hong Kong, GAC GOVY previously announced that the pre-sale price of the AirCab would not exceed RMB 1.68 million ($249K).
