All-New BYD Seagull Interior Leaked

Takeaways
  • All-New BYD Seagull grows dramatically to about 4,205 mm, shifting from city microcar to entry-level family EV.
  • BYD removes the separate instrument cluster for an enlarged floating central display while keeping physical buttons.
  • Powertrain and range boosted to 95 kW and up to 420 km CLTC with 29.99 kWh and 39.23 kWh LFP options.

A set of spy photos showing the redesigned BYD all-new Seagull’s interior has surfaced online, revealing a major cabin overhaul for the popular entry-level EV.

The All-New Seagull adopts a cleaner dashboard layout with a larger floating center display. The independent digital instrument cluster seen on the current model appears to be removed, with driving information likely integrated into the central screen.

Unlike some newer EV brands that have moved toward fully screen-based interiors, BYD retains most physical buttons in the All-New Seagull. The layout keeps key functions within easy reach, improving usability during daily driving.

The cabin design also moves closer to BYD’s latest generation interiors. The current three-spoke steering wheel has been replaced with a simpler two-spoke design.

The center console has also been redesigned. The front storage area upgrades from a single slot to a dual-slot layout, while the lower section adopts a large open storage space. The cup holder area has also been upgraded from a single holder to a dual-cup layout, improving practicality.

Notably, all current BYD models are equipped with a dedicated instrument display. If confirmed, the All-New Seagull could become the first BYD model to remove the traditional instrument cluster.

Beyond the interior changes, the biggest upgrade comes from the vehicle’s size. According to previous MIIT filings, the All-New Seagull measures 4,205 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, 1,570 mm in height, with a 2,650 mm wheelbase.

Compared with the current Seagull’s 3,780 mm length, 1,715 mm width, and 2,500 mm wheelbase, the redesigned model grows 425 mm longer, 95 mm wider, with a 150 mm longer wheelbase.

The larger footprint moves the Seagull away from the traditional A00-class city EV segment. Its body length is now close to BYD Dolphin’s 4,280 mm, signaling a shift from a basic urban commuter toward an entry-level family EV.

The powertrain has also been upgraded. The All-New Seagull is expected to use a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum output of 95 kW, up from 55 kW on the current model. Top speed rises to 150 km/h.

Battery options include 29.99 kWh and 39.23 kWh LFP packs, delivering CLTC ranges of 320 km and 420 km respectively. By comparison, the current Seagull offers CLTC ranges of 305 km and 405 km. The new model improves both performance output and driving range.

The redesign comes as BYD faces growing pressure in the entry-level EV market. Over the past two years, the Seagull has been one of BYD’s key volume models under its Ocean lineup. The model sold around 450K units in 2024, followed by around 310K units in 2025.

However, competition has intensified as more affordable EVs enter the RMB 60K-100K price range. Models such as Leapmotor A05, Leapmotor A10, and Geely Xingyuan have challenged the Seagull with larger dimensions and richer equipment.

Data shows the Seagull recorded around 63K sales in the first seven months of this year, significantly lower than previous years.

The upcoming redesign marks BYD’s attempt to regain momentum in the entry-level EV segment by upgrading the Seagull’s size, powertrain, and smart cabin experience.
