- HIMA cut the Luxeed RX’s entry pre-sale price by adding an 81-kWh battery variant, a tactical move to broaden appeal under mounting price competition and softer pre-order feedback.
- The new entry variant starts at RMB 269.8K (about $40.3K), the L3-equipped version from RMB 329.8K (about $49.2K), and existing pre-sale range was RMB 299.8K–399.8K (about $44.8K–$59.7K).

HIMA has added a new lower-capacity battery version to the Luxeed RX SUV lineup, with pre-orders officially opening on Sept. 20. The new variant starts at RMB 269.8K ($40.3K), RMB 30K lower than the versions announced at the model’s original pre-sale launch.
The newly added version comes with two configurations. Besides the entry-level battery option, Luxeed also offers a variant based on an L3 autonomous-driving architecture, priced from RMB 329.8K ($49.2K).
Luxeed RX opened for pre-orders on Aug. 20, with four variants priced between RMB 299.8K and RMB 399.8K ($44.8K-$59.7K). Positioned as a midsize-to-large coupe SUV, the model is built on an 800V high-voltage platform across the lineup and features a 100 kWh battery pack. It delivers up to 852 km of CLTC pure-electric range.
Adding a new lower-priced variant while a model is still in the pre-order phase is relatively uncommon and appears to be a response to market feedback.
Zhao Changjiang, head of Luxeed, said the new 81 kWh battery version is designed to give customers more choices, noting that not every buyer needs a larger battery pack.
However, the move may also reflect weaker-than-expected pre-order feedback. Luxeed has typically disclosed order numbers shortly after opening pre-orders for new models, but the company has yet to release any order figures nearly a month after RX pre-orders began.
The addition of a smaller battery version could help lower the entry price and attract more buyers by reducing the purchase threshold.
Luxeed RX faces competition from models such as Xiaomi YU7 and Voyah Passion S, both of which start at around RMB 230K ($34.3K).
If Luxeed keeps price adjustments limited after the official launch, its entry price would remain roughly RMB 30K higher than key rivals. Introducing a more affordable variant could therefore become a key step in improving its market competitiveness.
Compared with competitors, Luxeed RX’s biggest differentiation lies in intelligent driving capabilities.
HIMA said the SUV is based on an L3 autonomous-driving architecture and has already obtained an L3 autonomous-driving road testing permit. The company previously said that the L3 version accounted for 90% of pre-orders. However, regulations related to L3 autonomous driving are not expected to take effect until July 1, 2027.
Luxeed has not yet announced the RX’s official launch date. Once the model enters the market, whether consumers are willing to pay a premium for its L3 architecture will depend largely on final pricing and the real-world value of the technology.
