Recently, a Chinese blogger posted a video on social media claiming to have self-funded aerodynamic testing for the Avatr 12 at the Tianjin China Automotive Engineering Research Institute’s wind tunnel laboratory, a facility costing 500 million yuan to build.
The test results showed that the car’s drag coefficient was 0.28Cd, a 33% difference from the 0.21Cd officially promoted by Avatr, and even close to the level of fuel vehicles from 20 years ago.

The video sparked heated discussions and garnered over one million views within 24 hours.
In response to the accusation, Avatr stated: “The information is completely false, and technical parameters should be based on the official release,” attaching a censored image of the “false information.”

That night, Avatr announced that it would conduct a public wind tunnel test of the Avatr 12 according to the schedule of the national laboratory, “to clarify the situation with authoritative data.”

Regarding Avatr’s official statement, the Chinese blogger said he was waiting for an official invitation to witness the test on-site and demanded that the test be conducted with a production vehicle, not a specially tuned one.
On May 4, Avatr Vice President Yong Jun responded in a post, stating that the blogger had claimed last year that he wanted to test the Avatr 12’s drag coefficient. The automaker, concerned that the “vehicle configuration might be incomplete or not in the correct working condition” during the test, had proactively offered to assist with the testing but was rejected.

He also promised: “We are actively contacting testing institutions to conduct a public test with a production vehicle as soon as possible.”
Currently, the test video posted by the blogger has been removed from social media. The timing of the public wind tunnel test for the Avatr 12 has not yet been announced. We will continue to follow up and await the official final test results.
