CATL’s Major IPO: Key Highlights and Financial Impact

On May 20th, CATL was officially listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange with the stock code 03750.HK. This is its second capital market move after the 2018 listing on the Shenzhen ChiNext.

The final IPO price was HK $263 per share, a 5%-7% discount to the A-share price. The fundraising size has increased to 4.6-5.3 billion US dollars (about HK $41 billion). With the over – allotment option exercised, the total could hit 5.3 billion US dollars. If fully completed, it will be Hong Kong’s largest IPO since Kuaishou’s 2021 listing.

About 90% of the funds will go to the phase one and two construction of the Hungarian factory (total investment: 7.3 billion euros, with 700 million euros already invested) to enhance local supply in Europe. The remaining 10% will supplement working capital for international business.

At press time, CATL’s H – share price surged by 12.47%, valuing the company at HK $1.3 trillion.

Official data shows that in 2024, CATL had a revenue of 362 billion yuan and a net profit of 50.745 billion yuan, up 15% year – on – year. In Q1 2025, its net profit was 13.963 billion yuan, with the gross profit margin rising to 24.4%. It leads the global market with a 37.9% share in power batteries and a 36.5% share in energy storage batteries for eight consecutive years.
