Zeekr and Shell Partner to Expand EV Charging Network Coverage

On May 21, Zeekr Energy announced a cooperation with Shell Recharge. The first batch of 666 Shell charging stations, with over 12,000 charging terminals, will be connected. These stations cover seven cities, including Shanghai, Nanjing, Jiangsu, and Wuhan, bringing more charging options to Zeekr car owners.

Zeekr Energy, as a high-end intelligent electric vehicle brand under Geely Holding Group, has already cooperated with enterprises like GAC Energy and Teld, connecting to over 1.29 million third-party charging terminals. It has achieved 100% coverage in all prefecture-level cities in mainland China and built 5,025 high-speed charging stations and 7,448 ultra-fast charging stations. As of April 2025, Zeekr has built 1,578 self-owned charging stations, covering 185 cities, and plans to achieve the “thousand stations and ten thousand piles” target by the end of the year.

Shell, as a global energy giant, has laid out over 10,000 charging terminals in China. In recent years, Shell has been actively entering the new energy market, cooperating with many car companies to promote the construction of charging infrastructure. For example, it has established a joint venture with BYD. Shell is also laying out charging facilities in other places around the world, such as Brazil and Europe.

Zeekr Energy has previously announced its overseas 800V ultra-fast charging plan, intending to deploy supercharging piles in places like Thailand, Australia, and Brazil. Shell’s global energy market layout can provide considerable support for Zeekr’s internationalization strategy. Shell has a wide network of gas stations. If charging facilities are integrated into them, it will be more convenient for Zeekr car owners to replenish energy, especially during long-distance travel. Moreover, Shell has rich experience in energy management and charging operations, and Zeekr has advantages in 800V ultra-fast charging technology. The two parties’ cooperation may lead to more efficient charging solutions.

With the increasing penetration rate of new energy vehicles, the perfection of energy replenishment infrastructure will become the key to industry competition.
