Geely Galaxy A7 Debuts: Sub-2L/100km Engine-Only Fuel Economy, Exceeds 2,100km Total Range

This morning, Geely Galaxy officially named its new plug-in hybrid electric sedan the “Geely Galaxy A7” and released the first official images. The new car is scheduled to launch in the third quarter of this year.

Previously, the Galaxy A7 had completed its filing with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). According to the filing information, the car has a length, width, and height of 4918/1905/1495 mm and a wheelbase of 2845 mm. This body length far exceeds the typical range for midsize sedans (usually around 4850-4900 mm), approaching the dimensions of a full-size sedan. This gives it a significant size advantage in its segment.

In terms of design, the Galaxy A7 adopts the same new family design language as the Galaxy M9. The front features a “Star Ripple” full-width light bar that visually stretches the width of the front end. This is paired with sharp front bumper air intakes, which integrate an active grille shutter system. Silver trim accents are added to enhance the visual effect.

The side profile features a fastback design, with a character line extending from the front fender to the tail light cluster. Notably, the car does not use the popular hidden door handles but opts for classic fixed mechanical handles instead.

For the interior, the Geely Galaxy A7 employs a brand-new design style. It is equipped with a two-spoke steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster, and a large floating central touchscreen. It features a continuous air vent design across the dashboard and includes wireless phone charging.

Regarding powertrain, according to officially released information, the new car boasts a maximum comprehensive range of up to 2100 km and impressively low fuel consumption when running solely on the engine (“亏电油耗”), rated as low as 2L/100km. This means even when the battery is depleted and the car primarily relies on the engine, fuel consumption remains comparatively low, reducing daily operating costs.

The Geely Galaxy A7 positions itself as a competitor to the BYD Qin L DM-i. Considering the latter’s starting price of 79,800 yuan, whether the Galaxy A7 is sufficiently competitive will largely depend on its final pricing.
