BYD, TELD, and Star Charge Forge Partnership to Broaden MW Flash Charging Network

On June 17th, BYD officially announced a strategic partnership with domestic charging giants TELD and Star Charge.

The three parties will collaborate to promote the nationwide popularization and coverage of the megawatt-level flash charging network. This cooperation marks another crucial step in BYD’s strategic layout to build an “oil-electric parity” energy replenishment system.

In March 2025, BYD pioneered the industry by launching its “MW-Level Flash Charging Battery” with a peak charging rate of 10C. Its core flash charging battery supports ultra-high voltage of 1000V, ultra-large current of 1000A, and ultra-high power of 1000kW, enabling the breakthrough experience of “adding 400 km of range in 5 minutes.” 

This fundamentally reshapes users’ perception of the time cost associated with electric travel. Furthermore, through its intelligent boost module and dual-gun charging design, the technology achieves high compatibility with existing public fast-charging piles, significantly lowering the barrier for infrastructure upgrades.

For its MW-Level Flash Charging ecosystem strategy, BYD adopts a “dual-track parallel” model. On one track, it is accelerating its self-built network. According to the plan, BYD will deploy 4,000 MW-Level Flash Charging stations. Currently, the first batch of 500 stations is already operational, covering more than 200 core cities nationwide, forming a high-speed network and high-density urban service coverage.

On the other track, BYD is expanding capacity through open cooperation. Following the joint construction of 15,000 MW-Level Flash Charging piles with ORANGE ENERGY and New Electric Path at the end of May, the addition of TELD and Star Charge—two major leading operators—means the ecosystem alliance now encompasses energy and charging industry leaders such as China Southern Power Grid, Sinopec, and Shell Recharge. This achieves deep integration of technical standards and network resources.

This cooperation is not merely an increase in the number of charging pile operators. As tens of thousands of flash charging piles are deployed, anxieties over “difficulty finding a charger” and “slow charging” will be further alleviated. This will provide users of MW-Level compatible models like the Han L and Tang L (both achieving over ten thousand units in first-month sales) with a seamless “charge anywhere, charge-and-go” experience loop.
