Geely recently launched its EX5 simultaneously in six countries along the Adriatic Sea: Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.

The EX5 is the international version of Geely’s domestic Galaxy E5 model. Built on Geely’s GEA platform, it supports both left-hand and right-hand drive configurations and has already obtained the Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) certification for the European Union.
Positioned as a compact electric SUV, the EX5 measures 4,615 mm in length, 1,901 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. It is offered with two battery options, 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh, providing CLTC ranges of 440 km and 530 km, respectively.

Geely initially entered the Serbian market in March 2023, partnering exclusively with local distributor SEEAG and introducing models such as the Starray and Coolray. The launch of the EX5 represents a deeper collaboration between the two parties, now extending into the electric vehicle segment.
Besides the Adriatic region, the EX5 is already available in Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand. Notably, the model has shown exceptional performance in the Australian market, achieving a total of 1,023 registrations within just three months after its March debut. In May alone, registrations reached 511 units, placing the EX5 third in Australia’s pure-electric segment.

Geely has announced plans to expand the EX5 into more than 20 international markets by the end of 2025.

Currently, this approach of initial regional penetration followed by steady expansion not only effectively reduces the risks associated with entering new markets but also provides a pragmatic and valuable reference for other Chinese brands looking toward global expansion.
