BYD Surpasses 1 Million Vehicles Equipped with “DiPilot” Intelligent Driving System

BYD’s intelligent driving vehicle sales have exceeded 1 million units, with the company preparing for its largest-ever OTA update.

On July 7, BYD Auto announced that the cumulative sales of its vehicles equipped with the “DiPilot” intelligent driving system have exceeded 1 million units. At the same time, the company is preparing to roll out the largest OTA update in its history for its intelligent driving system.

The BYD DiPilot Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) was officially launched in February 2025 and is available in three versions across different product lines:

DiPilot A
Equipped with three LiDAR sensors and dual NVIDIA Orin-X chips, delivering 508 TOPS of computing power. This system is primarily used in BYD’s high-end Yangwang brand. It features robust perception and processing capabilities, capable of handling highly complex driving environments. It enables full-scenario advanced autonomous driving, including urban autonomous driving in dense traffic conditions.

DiPilot B
Features a single LiDAR sensor and one Orin-X chip, providing 254 TOPS of computing power. This version is integrated into DENZA and other mid-to-high-end BYD models. It supports stable urban Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) and delivers strong performance in both urban and highway scenarios, effectively handling moderately complex conditions.

DiPilot C
Adopts an industry-first configuration of a forward-facing triple-camera system combined with millimetre-wave radar, and is designed for BYD’s mainstream models. It targets commuting scenarios such as highways and city expressways, focusing on high-frequency travel routes like daily commutes.

The achievement of one million equipped vehicles is backed by a robust technological infrastructure. In February, BYD Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu announced that all BYD models will be equipped with advanced intelligent driving technologies.

Since the launch of DiPilot, BYD has leveraged its massive vehicle cloud database, comprising over 4.4 million vehicles equipped with L2+ ADAS, accumulating 44 million kilometers of driving data daily. This extensive data pipeline supports continuous evolution of the DiPilot system.

In May alone, BYD sold 231,059 intelligent driving vehicles, with 79% of sales coming from the Chinese domestic market. As of the end of May, cumulative intelligent driving vehicle sales exceeded 710,000 units, generating more than 44 million kilometers of driving data per day.

As BYD reaches the one-million-unit milestone, the company also announced plans to initiate its largest-scale OTA (Over-the-Air) upgrade for intelligent driving. While specific details have not been disclosed, recent technical updates — such as the addition of the “Smooth ETC Pass-Through” feature for DiPilot B — signal that this update will significantly enhance scenario adaptability and user experience. This new function allows zero-intervention passage through toll stations, demonstrating BYD’s ongoing commitment to real-world functionality.
