Great Wall Motors (GWM) posted record-breaking revenue, net profit, and sales in Q2, marking its best quarter ever.
On July 21, Great Wall Motors Co., Ltd. released its earnings report.
In Q2 2025, GWM’s revenue reached 52.348 billion RMB ($7.33 billion), up 7.78% year-on-year and 30.81% quarter-on-quarter, representing the best second-quarter revenue in its history. Net profit for the quarter was 4.586 billion RMB ($642 million), up 19.46% year-on-year and soaring 161.91% quarter-on-quarter, marking its highest single-quarter net profit ever.

Behind these figures lies more than simple growth.
GWM entered a new product cycle this year, with launches from Tank 300 to Wey Gaoshan and the second-generation Haval Xiaolong MAX injecting key momentum into sales. In Q2, cumulative sales hit 313,000 units, up 10.07% year-on-year and 21.87% quarter-on-quarter, the best second-quarter sales performance ever. Among these, new energy vehicles contributed nearly 100,000 units, growing over 33%, while overseas sales surpassed 100,000 units, confirming early success of the company’s “eco-globalization” strategy.

A notable detail is GWM’s ongoing progress in intelligent driving. Its next-generation Coffee Pilot Ultra system, SEE smart driving large model, and Coffee OS 3 are improving user experience while building a strong technological moat in the industry.

However, despite the strong single-quarter showing, GWM’s net profit for the first half of 2025 still declined 10.2% year-on-year. This reflects temporary cost pressures from new rounds of technology and brand investments, as well as the challenge to further strengthen product influence and direct channel capabilities against competitors like BYD, Geely, and Changan.
2025 also marks GWM’s 35th anniversary. At this milestone, the company is shifting from “manufacturing-driven” to “brand-driven” and “technology-driven.” For this long-established pillar of China’s automotive industry, Q2 represents only the beginning of a new cycle. The key challenge for the next 35 years lies in transforming technological advantages and global expansion into sustained market share.
