Will the value-packed ONVO L90 help NIO turn a profit?
Today, a netizen shared what appears to be an official pricing list of different ONVO L90 variants following its launch.
According to the leaked table, the L90 lineup aligns with previous reports, consisting of Pro, Max, and Ultra variants.

Referencing the previous presale pricing, the standard purchase price for the L90 starts at RMB 279,900 ($39,200), or RMB 193,900 ($27,100) after BaaS battery subscription. Compared to presale prices, the leaked launch prices reflect an overall discount of RMB 4,000 ($560), with details as follows:
- Pro: RMB 275,900 ($38,600), or RMB 189,900 ($26,600) with BaaS
- Max: RMB 295,900 ($41,400), or RMB 209,900 ($29,400) with BaaS
- Ultra: RMB 315,900 ($44,200), or RMB 229,900 ($32,200) with BaaS
In addition, the first wave of customers placing orders after the official launch is expected to receive a RMB 3,000 ($420) deposit discount and a RMB 5,000 ($700) option package discount.

If launched at the above prices, the ONVO L90 could potentially disrupt the full-size three-row electric SUV segment, triggering a shake-up in the RMB 300,000 ($42,800) NEV market.
Compared to similar competitors, in the range-extender/hybrid segment, the L90 undercuts the Li Auto L9 (from RMB 409,800 / $57,400) and the AITO M9 (from RMB 469,800 / $65,800) by RMB 130,000–200,000 ($18,200–$28,000). In the pure electric segment, it’s RMB 80,000–120,000 ($11,200–$16,800) cheaper than the Tesla Model Y L and Li Auto i8 (both expected to be priced between RMB 350,000–400,000 / $50,000–$56,000).
Even compared to the similarly sized Deepal S09 (starting from RMB 229,900 / $32,200), the L90 is priced about RMB 50,000 ($7,000) higher. However, its advantages—battery swapping, a 900V high-voltage platform, and NIO’s brand reputation—ensure it remains highly competitive.
It’s also worth noting that the ONVO L90 is scheduled to begin deliveries on August 1. Around the same time, the Li Auto i8 and Tesla Model Y L will also enter the market. Whether these competitors can withstand the L90’s aggressive value-for-money offering has become one of the biggest questions for the Chinese NEV market in the second half of 2025.
