This year’s NIO Day breaks from its traditional December schedule and will be held in autumn for the first time.
The third-generation ES8 will debut at NIO Day 2025, alongside the special edition Firefly model.
On August 25, NIO officially announced that Hangzhou has been selected as the host city for NIO Day 2025, with the theme “Grow With The Light.”

Breaking from its traditional scheduling in December, this year’s NIO Day will for the first time be held in the autumn. This adjustment aims to align with the promotional and delivery schedule of NIO’s major fourth-quarter product launches, while also avoiding the Christmas holiday in December to facilitate participation from users in overseas markets.
Unlike previous editions where the host city was determined through applications from city user clubs and user voting, the 2025 NIO Day has temporarily suspended the city bidding process. Due to the last-minute rescheduling to autumn, preparation time is tight and resource coordination is highly complex. The organizing committee directly selected the city based on venue availability, climate conditions, and overall planning.
NIO officially stated that the bidding mechanism will be revised in 2026 based on user feedback.

NIO Day is NIO’s annual user celebration and also a major new vehicle launch event.
According to the plan, the third-generation ES8 will officially debut at NIO Day 2025. The model is currently open for pre-sales, with the BaaS option starting at 308,800 yuan. NIO revealed that the first-day pre-order volume for the third-generation ES8 exceeded that of the Ledao L90 during the same period.
Also worth anticipating is the special edition Firefly model. This special edition is based on the European version, which places greater emphasis on handling compared to domestically available models—featuring a stiffer suspension and firmer steering feedback. Currently, the domestic purchase price starts at ¥119,800, while the BaaS option starts at ¥79,800 .

According to official data, NIO delivered 114,150 new vehicles in the first half of 2025, a year-on-year increase of 30.6%.
As part of its plan, in addition to the already announced ONVO L90 and the third-generation ES8, NIO will also launch another key model—the ONVO L80—in the second half of the year.
