NIO Completes West Sichuan Power-Swap Loop Route

With the West Sichuan route now operational, only three swap stations on the Yunnan-Tibet corridor remain under construction.

On November 18, NIO announced the full opening of its West Sichuan power-swap loop.

Starting from Chengdu, the route spans roughly 1,400 km and incorporates 13 power-swap stations, enabling energy replenishment approximately every 110 km.

The loop covers cities and counties including Ya’an, Tianquan, Kangding, Danba, Maerkang, Hongyuan, Songpan, Heishui, Wenchuan and Dujiangyan, and provides access to popular destinations such as Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, Dagu Glacier, Siguniang Mountain and Qingcheng Mountain.

The West Sichuan loop represents NIO’s second major long-distance power-swap corridor built in Southwest China this year.

On August 16, NIO completed the G318 Sichuan-Tibet power-swap corridor, covering 2,950 km with 15 swap stations.

According to plans announced at the Chengdu Auto Show, NIO aims to fully complete both the West Sichuan loop and the Yunnan-Tibet corridor within this year.

With the West Sichuan route now operational, only three remaining swap stations on the Yunnan-Tibet route are still under construction.

The Yunnan-Tibet corridor stretches from Kunming in Yunnan Province to Dingri (Mount Everest) in Tibet, running more than 2,700 km with a total of 19 planned swap stations.

Sixteen stations in this route are already in operation, with three additional stations scheduled for Shangri-La and Deqin in Yunnan and Mangkang County in Tibet.

As the swap-station network continues to expand, NIO is setting new service records. In October, cumulative swap services exceeded 90 million, with daily swap demand surpassing 100,000. NIO is approaching the milestone of its 100 millionth power swap.

As of November 18, 2025, NIO operates 8,366 charging and swap facilities nationwide, including 3,573 swap stations and 4,793 charging stations.

On highways, NIO has installed 1,003 swap stations, forming a network of nine north-south, 11 east-west and 16 metropolitan cluster corridors, linking more than 550 cities across the country.
