NIO ET5, ET5T Clean Parks Edition Filed with MIIT

December 18th this year marks the fourth anniversary of the launch of the Clean Parks initiative.

On December 5th, NIO submitted vehicle change and expansion announcement information for models including the ET5 and ET5T in the MIIT’s 402nd batch of new vehicle declaration catalog. The rear of the new vehicle featured the exclusive “Clean Parks Edition” badge for the first time, suggesting it may become another special edition model following the ET5/ET5T Champion Edition.

According to the declaration information, the vehicle’s personalization options have been further enriched. New exclusive exterior packages include the rear “Clean Parks Edition” badge, colored brake calipers, and matte-colored wheel hub covers, while the overall exterior design shows no significant adjustments.

The Clean Parks initiative is a global ecological co-construction project officially launched by NIO at the 2021 NIO Day. According to the plan, NIO pledged to invest 100 million RMB over the next three years to support the use of intelligent electric vehicles in global protected areas, build clean energy infrastructure, and establish a clean, low-carbon energy self-circulation system.

NIO Launches Clean Parks Initiative

The initiative has already been implemented in locations such as the Qilian Mountain National Park, the Three-River-Source Region, and the Hainan Tropical Rainforest. It supports ecological conservation work by providing patrol vehicles and constructing battery swap and charging stations.

The addition of the Clean Parks Edition model is not only an expansion of the product lineup but also a strategic reflection of NIO’s sustainable development philosophy being translated into product competitiveness.

It is worth mentioning that on July 4th of this year, to commemorate the tenth anniversary of NIO winning its first Formula E Drivers’ World Championship in 2015, NIO officially launched the ET5/ET5T Champion Commemorative Edition.

The new vehicle features an exclusive “Champion Edition” badge on the rear, along with adjustments to interior color schemes and chassis performance. The starting purchase price for the new vehicle is 316,000 RMB. With the Champion Edition as a reference, this newly added “Clean Parks Edition” model is expected to be launched as a commemorative edition.

Another notable point is that December 18th this year marks the fourth anniversary of the Clean Parks initiative launch. As of the time of writing, NIO has not disclosed the specific release date for this new version.

With intensifying market competition, NIO has frequently employed strategies this year such as releasing co-branded new vehicles and collaborating with celebrities to maintain model热度 (hotness/attention). Besides commemorative editions, a limited edition of 555 units of the ET5T “Tron: Ares” Shadow Edition was also released in October. Whether the launch of the Clean Parks Edition can generate a wave of peak attention for the ET5 and ET5T models is something we look forward to seeing.
