EVE Energy Invests $1.4B in 2 GWh Sodium Battery Plant

EVE Sodium Energy HQ to cover 90,000 sqm, integrating R&D, pilot testing and mass production.

On December 22nd, the groundbreaking ceremony for the “EVE Sodium Energy Headquarters” and “Jinyuan Robot AI Center” projects was officially held in Zone D of EVE Lithium Energy’s headquarters in Huizhou.

This groundbreaking in the sodium battery sector represents a critical strategic step for EVE Lithium Energy’s future layout.

For the sodium battery segment, the project involves a total investment of approximately 1 billion yuan, with a planned total floor area of about 90,000 square meters. Its core objective is to establish an integrated innovation platform encompassing “R&D – pilot-scale testing – mass production.”

The project simultaneously plans for the development of “trace-free” and “non-combustible” sodium battery products. Among these, the “trace-free” product aims for self-degradation without the need for recycling through the use of low-carbon materials. When paired with wind and solar power generation, it targets achieving “zero-carbon sodium batteries,” efficiently empowering AIDC (AI Data Center) scenarios.

Officials revealed that the project has a planned annual production capacity of 2 GWh.

Constructed concurrently with the Sodium Energy Headquarters is the “Jinyuan Robot AI Center,” with a planned floor area of approximately 50,000 square meters. This center will comprehensively cover the entire R&D process for robot mass production, from “research and development, trial production, pilot-scale testing, final assembly, to skills training.”

This layout follows a “mutually empowering” smart manufacturing logic: on one hand, it leverages artificial intelligence and robotics technology to comprehensively advance the intelligent upgrade of the lithium battery manufacturing process; on the other hand, by constructing ultra-large-scale advanced battery factories, it provides complex real-world application scenarios and data feedback for AI and robotics technology, thereby driving their product iteration in reverse.

This capacity expansion coincides with a period of explosive growth in EVE Lithium Energy’s performance.

In the first three quarters of 2025, EVE’s energy storage battery shipments reached 48.41 GWh, a sharp increase of 133.18% year-on-year, with its global market share jumping to second place. The gross profit margin recovered to above 12% in Q3.

The power battery business also remained robust, with estimated shipments of 34.59 GWh in the first three quarters, representing a year-on-year growth of nearly 67%. The company maintains a steady position as the second-largest player in the domestic commercial vehicle battery market share.

In terms of installed capacity, the company holds firm positions as fifth in China and ninth globally. Its customer structure continues to optimize, having supplied batteries for over 10 mainstream models, including those from BMW Brilliance, Xpeng, and Leapmotor.
