- Leapmotor launches A05s sedan to replace T03 and target China’s RMB 50,000–80,000 entry EV segment.
- A05s packs LiDAR, 70/90 kW motors and up to 510 km CLTC range in A0-segment sizing.
- A0-segment growth and fierce rivals like Wuling Bingo and Geely make A05s a make-or-break model.
Leapmotor on July 10 officially unveiled the A05s, the first sedan in its A Series lineup.
Positioned as a “smart compact sedan,” the A05s is a special edition of the A05 and will serve as one of the key models in Leapmotor’s A Series, further expanding the brand’s presence in China’s entry-level battery electric vehicle market.
Official images show the A05s adopting a two-tone exterior design with rounded body lines that follow Leapmotor’s latest family styling language.

The vehicle is equipped with a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, giving it a younger appearance while indicating that advanced driver assistance features are continuing to move into lower-priced vehicle segments.
The A05s first appeared in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) regulatory filing in April.
According to the filing, the vehicle measures 4,200 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,560 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,605 mm, positioning it in the A0-segment electric sedan category.
The model will be offered with 70 kW and 90 kW electric motors, paired with 39.8 kWh and 53 kWh battery packs, delivering CLTC driving ranges of 405 km and 510 km, respectively.
Other design features include semi-concealed door handles, a floating roof, and distinctive “smiling face” taillights.

From a product positioning perspective, the A05s is expected to succeed the T03 as Leapmotor’s key offering in the RMB 50,000-80,000 ($7,360-$11,770) entry-level urban EV segment.
The T03, once one of the brand’s core volume models, has been gradually phased out of the domestic market.
Sales data show the T03 recorded domestic sales of just 979 units in May, falling further to only one unit in June.
Existing inventory is now being cleared in China, while new production capacity and product focus have shifted toward overseas markets, particularly Europe.

The timing of the A05s launch also reflects the continued expansion of China’s A0-segment EV market.
According to CPCA, wholesale deliveries of A0-class EVs, including sedans and SUVs, reached 314,000 units in June 2026, accounting for 32% of China’s total BEV market.
The segment’s share increased by 9 percentage points year on year, making it the country’s largest pure electric vehicle segment.
Competition in the segment has become increasingly intense.
The Wuling Bingo, starting at RMB 56,800 ($8,360), sold 19,118 units in June and has accumulated 61,272 deliveries since its latest version was launched in March.
Priced from RMB 61,800 (9,098), the A0-segment compact electric SUV Geely Galaxy Xingyuan notched 33,359 retail deliveries in June, ranking second in China’s passenger car market.

Leapmotor itself continues to face a concentrated sales mix.
The company delivered a record 93,376 vehicles globally in June, up 95% year on year, extending its streak of record monthly deliveries.
Of those, 72,376 units were delivered in China, while the A10 alone contributed 24,865 deliveries, accounting for roughly one-third of the brand’s total monthly sales.
Whether the A05s can capture incremental demand in China’s most competitive entry-level EV segment will be a key factor shaping Leapmotor’s future sales mix and market coverage.
