BAIC Group’s EV brand Arcfox said its Alpha T7 received more than 10,000 pre-orders within two hours of opening pre-sales.
Alpha T7 opened for pre-sales on Aug. 26. It comes in range-extender and pure-electric versions, with nine variants priced at RMB 137.8K-174.8K ($20.5K-$26.0K).
The five-seat midsize-to-large SUV measures 5,020 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, 1,685 mm in height, with a 3,040 mm wheelbase.
In terms of design, Alpha T7 bears a strong resemblance to Xiaomi YU7.
The SUV features a pronounced fastback roofline, a steeply angled D-pillar, and flared rear wheel arches. Its low-slung, wide-body stance also closely echoes YU7.
The design is becoming a new trend in China’s NEV market. Xiaomi YU7 drew strong consumer interest soon after its launch. Its styling has also pushed fastback SUVs, low-slung wide-body designs, and sportier proportions into the spotlight among Chinese automakers.
Alpha T7 appears aimed at younger families with a shape distinct from conventional SUVs.
The similarities are even stronger inside. Alpha T7 gets a 1.1-meter panoramic skyline screen, closely resembling the skyline display in Xiaomi YU7. The steering wheel design, function-button layout, and other details also show strong similarities.
Among the YU7-style models already seen in China, Alpha T7 could be one of the closest matches to YU7 in cabin design.
But Arcfox Alpha T7 is not relying on styling alone.
The battery-electric version packs an 84.8 kWh CATL battery, delivering up to 715 km of CLTC range. The range-extender version uses a 43.9 kWh battery, offering 320 km of CLTC electric range, with a combined range of 1,315 km.
The BEV version runs on an 800V high-voltage platform. It can charge from 30% to 80% in 15 minutes.
ADAS is another key selling point. Alpha T7 offers Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 Pro as an option, though the system is not available across the full lineup. Arcfox specifications show four variants carrying the Qiankun designation are equipped with the system, plus an in-cabin LiDAR.
The Alpha T7 enters a highly competitive segment. With pre-sales starting at RMB 137.8K ($20.5K), Arcfox is targeting family buyers with budgets below RMB 200K ($29.8K). The pitch combines a larger body, ADAS, and fast charging on an 800V platform.
Arcfox sold 23,517 vehicles in July. Arcfox Beta T1 and Beta S3 accounted for 8,628 and 6,941 units, respectively, making them the brand’s main sales drivers.
Arcfox, however, still lacks a clear volume model across its lineup. Whether Alpha T7 can become a major volume seller will depend on its final pricing, pre-order conversion, and actual deliveries.
