Arcfox Alpha T7 Logs 30K Orders in First Hour, Seen as a Budget Xiaomi YU7 Rival

Takeaways
  • Arcfox launched the Alpha T7 and logged 30,000-plus locked orders in its first hour, reflecting a push to win share via aggressive value positioning against mainstream Chinese EVs.
  • The Alpha T7 is a five-seat midsize-to-large SUV with 5,020 mm length, 3,040 mm wheelbase, 84.8 kWh BEV (715 km CLTC) and 43.9 kWh range‑extender (1,315 km combined), priced RMB 132.8K–169.8K (about $19.8K–$25.3K).
  • The model targets rivals like Xiaomi YU7 and mass-market NEVs, but delivery execution, scaling, margin compression from price cuts, and Arcfox’s weak recent sales raise tangible execution risks.

BAIC Group’s EV brand Arcfox said its new SUV, the Alpha T7, received more than 30K locked orders within one hour of its official launch.

Alpha T7 opened for pre-orders on Aug. 26, with prices ranging from RMB 137.8K to RMB 174.8K ($20.5K-$26.1K). Orders exceeded 10K within two hours of pre-orders opening.

Following its market launch, the final prices were cut to RMB 132.8K-169.8K ($19.8K-$25.3K), down by about RMB 5K-6K ($0.75K-$0.89K).

Positioned as a five-seat midsize-to-large SUV, Alpha T7 is offered in both battery-electric and range-extender versions.

The SUV measures 5,020 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width and 1,685 mm in height, with a 3,040 mm wheelbase.

In terms of styling, Alpha T7 follows the sportier design trend emerging across China’s NEV market. It features a fastback roofline, a low-slung wide-body stance, and flared wheel arches, giving it a silhouette similar to Xiaomi YU7.

The similarities extend into the cabin. Alpha T7 comes with a 1.1-meter panoramic skyline screen, while the steering wheel design, function controls and interior layout also resemble Xiaomi YU7.

But Arcfox is not relying on design alone.

The pure-electric version packs an 84.8 kWh CATL battery, delivering up to 715 km of CLTC range. The range-extender variant uses a 43.9 kWh battery, offering 320 km of CLTC electric range and a combined range of up to 1,315 km.

Alpha T7 also supports Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 Pro intelligent driving system, with selected high-end variants equipped with in-cabin LiDAR. The system enables features such as urban NOA and highway NCA.

The model reflects a broader shift in China’s NEV market, where styling, smart features, high-spec powertrains and mature manufacturing capabilities are becoming key factors in attracting buyers.

Arcfox sold around 17K vehicles in August, down 27.3% MoM. Its Beta T1 and Beta S3 remained the brand’s main volume drivers, delivering 5,484 and 5,253 units respectively.

The sales data highlights Arcfox’s ongoing challenge: the brand still lacks a true breakout model. If Alpha T7 can maintain stable deliveries, it could become a new growth driver for Arcfox.
