AITO M8 retained its lead in the RMB 400,000 ($55,800) segment with strong June sales; its BEV variant is set to launch in August.
On July 15, Richard Yu, Chairman of Huawei’s Consumer BG, announced that the AITO M8 surpassed 20,000 deliveries in June 2025, maintaining its position as the best-selling model in China’s premium 400,000-yuan SUV segment.

According to data previously released by Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), cumulative deliveries of the M8 have exceeded 40,000 units, with the model consistently leading its segment for several consecutive months.
Positioned as a “smart flagship SUV for families,” the AITO M8 is a key product in the HIMA lineup. In a fiercely competitive landscape that includes models like the Li Auto L9 and Denza D9, the M8 has carved out a space of its own, thanks to differentiated features like Huawei’s intelligent cockpit and advanced driver-assistance systems.

Building on the success of the range-extended version, the product line is set to expand. The battery electric vehicle (BEV) version of the M8 will officially launch in August. The new variant will retain the existing dimensions (5190×1999×1795 mm, wheelbase of 3105 mm) and offer both five- and six-seat layouts, emphasizing a combination of spacious interiors and advanced intelligent features.

A major highlight of the M8 BEV version lies in its impressive range. Equipped across the lineup with a 100 kWh CATL battery pack, the vehicle boasts a maximum CLTC range of up to 705 kilometers. This places it among the top performers in the large pure electric SUV segment. For comparison, XPeng’s G9 Long Range version offers 702 km, Li Auto’s MEGA delivers 710 km, and NIO’s ES8 achieves around 605 km. Despite its five-meter-plus length and three-meter wheelbase, the BEV version achieves competitive energy efficiency through optimizations in weight and aerodynamics.
In terms of charging performance, the M8 BEV is built on Huawei’s “Whale” 800V high-voltage platform, supporting ultra-fast charging. It will also debut Huawei’s seven-in-one electric drive system and come standard with the HUAWEI Advanced Driving System (ADS) 4.0 intelligent driving suite, including a 192-line LiDAR sensor, offering L2+ advanced driver assistance capabilities.
Visually and functionally, the M8 BEV version stays consistent with the range-extended variant, maintaining the family design language while enhancing its new energy credentials.
With a solid sales foundation already in place, the launch of the BEV version is seen as a critical enhancement to the M8 lineup. While AITO’s track record in the pure electric segment has been limited, the M8 BEV’s combination of a high-capacity battery, class-leading range, and fast-charging capabilities could mark a turning point in the brand’s electrification efforts—potentially reshaping its standing in the premium EV market.
