Currently, the ONVO L90’s battery supply structure is as follows: the 60 kWh version is jointly supplied by BYD and CATL, while the 85 kWh version is mainly supplied by CALB.
Multiple automotive bloggers have reported that ONVO will introduce an 85 kWh battery produced by CATL in September to address current battery supply shortages.
At present, the ONVO L90’s battery supply structure is: the 60 kWh version jointly supplied by BYD and CATL, and the 85 kWh version mainly supplied by CALB.
Due to rapidly increasing orders, the 85 kWh battery has faced short-term supply shortages, resulting in delivery delays for some customers.
To ease the pressure, ONVO previously launched a BaaS (Battery-as-a-Service) rental program for the 60 kWh battery, allowing customers to take delivery first and later upgrade to a higher-capacity battery. While this strategy has partially diverted demand from the 85 kWh battery, many customers still choose to wait for the high-capacity version.
According to the latest industry news, CATL’s 85 kWh battery will be incorporated into ONVO’s supply chain in September, which is expected to ease delivery pressure for the 85kWh version.
This adjustment will work in tandem with ONVO’s newly announced “Waiting Points” subsidy policy to stabilize customer expectations and accelerate delivery schedules.
With CATL’s 85 kWh battery joining the supply chain, the L90’s bottleneck in battery supply is expected to be alleviated.
If production remains smooth, ONVO’s chances of achieving a monthly delivery of 25,000 units in the fourth quarter will improve—a figure that is also a critical target for NIO’s break-even goal in Q4.
