The price of the third-generation NIO ES8 after subscribing to the BaaS starts from RMB 280,000 (approximately USD 38,990). Is it sparing no effort to make a profit?
The third-generation NIO ES8 will officially open for pre-sales on August 21. As the launch approaches, pricing has become the most anticipated topic.
Recently, automotive enthusiasts revealed that a NIO sales representative disclosed predicted pricing for the new model in an official ES8 communication group:
The third-gen ES8 comes standard with a 100-kWh battery, offering both 6-seat and 7-seat configurations. The post-BaaS price ranges between RMB 280,000-290,000(approximately USD 38,990), while the full purchase price is approximately RMB 400,000(approximately USD 55,700). Additionally, a 75-kWh battery version may be introduced later to further lower the entry barrier, potentially reducing the outright purchase price to just over RMB 300,000(approximately USD 41,775).

Beyond the pricing mystery, the third-gen ES8’s technical specifications have been officially filed with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Simultaneously, actual photos revealing exterior and interior details have been progressively released.

Dimensions of the new ES8 measure 5280×2010×1800mm with a 3130mm wheelbase.
The vehicle features a 925V high-voltage architecture supporting 600kW peak charging power—enabling 250km range replenishment in 5 minutes. For autonomous driving, it adopts the ET9-derived AQUILA 3.0 Super Sensing system with triple lidars (including one 500m long-range unit) and 4D imaging radar, providing hardware redundancy for urban NOP+ advanced driver-assistance.

Powertrain specifications include a 102kWh battery delivering 635km CLTC range (a 10% improvement over current models). Its dual-motor AWD system generates combined 520kW power, enabling accelerated 0-100km/h performance.
NIO is expected to implement a “streamlined variants + premium standard features” strategy, eliminating redundant options to create a transparent pricing structure against competitors like the AITO M9 (starting at RMB 569,800) and Li Auto L9 (RMB 450k segment).
According to the official timeline, pre-sales will commence during the August 21 technology launch event, with formal sales and deliveries starting at NIO Day 2025 on September 20.
