Huawei will begin rolling out OTA upgrades for ADS 4 and Harmony Space 5 starting in September, aiming to further accelerate the adoption of assisted driving technologies.
On August 25, Jin Yuzhi, CEO of Huawei’s Intelligent Automotive Solutions BU, revealed that Huawei’s Advanced Driving System (ADS 4) is expected to achieve pilot commercialization at Highway L3 level this year and will have testing capability at Urban L4 level.
He noted that, subject to regulatory approval, the goal is to expand pilot capabilities for Highway L3 and Urban L4 next year, paving the way for broader deployment of autonomous driving technology.

Jin further outlined Huawei’s roadmap: by 2027, the company plans to launch unmanned trunk logistics pilots and scale Urban L4 commercialization, followed by full commercial operations of unmanned trunk logistics in 2028. These efforts aim to accelerate the development of the L3 and L4 autonomous driving technology ecosystem.
Huawei ADS 4 offers four versions:
- ADS SE (Standard Version) supports basic intelligent driving functions.
- ADS Pro (Enhanced Version) adds highway navigation capabilities.
- ADS Max (Advanced Version) includes urban navigation functionality.
- ADS Ultra (Flagship Version) delivers Highway L3 autonomous driving and integrates World Engine and World Behavior Model technologies.

As of July 2025, over 1 million vehicles are equipped with Huawei’s ADS, with more than 1 million LiDAR units shipped. The system has accumulated 4 billion kilometers of assisted driving, successfully avoiding 2.54 million potential collisions.
The point-to-point navigation assist feature has been used over 10 million times. In July alone, users averaged nearly 700 km of assisted driving and 37 assisted parking sessions per person. The voice assistant “Xiao Yi” has been invoked 2.4 billion times, while the seamless transfer feature has been used 140 million times.
In terms of deployment, since the ADS 4 launch in April, it has been first integrated into the MAEXTRO S800 model. Jin disclosed that starting in September, more partner models will receive OTA upgrades in conjunction with the Harmony Space 5 system, further accelerating the adoption of driver-assist technology.

Huawei’s ADS 4 currently spans 22 cooperative models across a broad price range from RMB 150,000 ($20,900) to over RMB 1 million ($139,300), including the 2026 Deepal L07, Dongfeng Mengshi M817 SUV, MAEXTRO S800, and AITO M8/M9, STELATO S9 range-extended models, as well as AVATR 06 and 07 Pro.
Jin noted that China’s driver-assistance penetration took five years to grow from zero to 50%. The current rapid adoption is expected to further accelerate the arrival of the autonomous driving era.
