Huawei’s HIMA: Four Brands Each Launch New Models, Most Affordable Car Debuts

  • The revamped LUXEED R7 and S7 models have been launched, with prices starting at RMB 229,800 ($32,000);

On the afternoon of August 25, HIMA held an autumn new product launch event for LUXEED and AITO in Chengdu. New cars from its four brands were simultaneously unveiled at the event.

Prior to the official unveiling of the new models, Richard Yu, Chairman of HUAWEI’s Consumer BG, shared a set of market performance data for HIMA in terms of sales and intelligent driving assistance:

As of August 25, HIMA has delivered a cumulative total of 900,000 new vehicles and has ranked first in average transaction price among Chinese automotive brands for 14 consecutive months.

In terms of specific brand and model performance, the MAEXTRO S800 achieved over 12,000 confirmed orders within 87 days of its launch; the AITO M9, with more than a year since its release, has delivered over 226,000 units, maintaining its position as the sales champion in the 500,000 RMB and above price segment for 17 consecutive months; the AITO M8, launched four months ago, has delivered over 70,000 units, becoming the sales champion in the RMB 400,000 ($55,700) and above category.

Regarding intelligent driving assistance, in the first half of 2025, the cumulative assisted driving distance reached 1.67 billion kilometers, and the cumulative number of assisted parking instances reached 99.38 million. Additionally, as of August 24, Huawei ADS has helped users avoid over 2 million potential collisions.

Below is a detailed look at the new vehicles launched by each brand.

LUXEED R7 and S7 Redesigned Models Launch, Starting at RMB 229,800 ($32,000)

As the first models of the LUXEED brand’s 2.0 era—the new R7 and S7 have been officially launched.

The new LUXEED R7 is priced from RMB 249,800 to 309,800 ($34,800–$43,100), while the updated S7 ranges from RMB 229,800 to 289,800 ($32,000–$40,300). Both models feature comprehensive upgrades in styling, intelligent driving systems, and comfort enhancements.

The new R7 features a new hexagonal logo, with the front face adopting an All-in-One star trail-integrated light cluster design, complemented by a through-type daytime running light strip. New decorative lights have been added below the headlights. The side air intakes are larger, enhancing the sporty feel, while the lower front bumper is equipped with an active grille. A lidar sensor remains positioned on the top of the vehicle.

Additionally, the new R7 offers a new Aurora Green exterior color option and a Roland Purple two-tone interior.

For the interior, the new model adopts a yacht-inspired wraparound cockpit design. The front central control screen has been upgraded to a 16.1-inch 3K high-resolution display, and a 50-watt wireless fast charging pad is provided below the central console.

Moreover, the new LUXEED R7 will be upgraded with two zero-gravity seats. The driver’s seat cushion has been lengthened and thickened, enabling a one-tick zero-gravity floating reclining position with 18-way adjustment.

In terms of comfort features, the new model comes standard with an electric sunshade and a HUAWEI SOUND 21-speaker 7.1.4 surround sound system.

On the assisted driving front, the new LUXEED R7 comes standard with 36 sensors, including an additional solid-state lidar, six external microphones, a matrix of three distributed 4D millimeter-wave radars, and two 4D millimeter-wave corner radars. By the end of 2025, it will receive an upgrade enabling external voice control and in-car/out-of-car conversation functions.

Furthermore, existing LUXEED owners will receive a full upgrade to the HUAWEI ADS 4 assisted driving system starting in September. This upgrade includes parking-to-parking navigation assist, valet parking support, and the debut of Intelligent Sensing Parking functionality.

The upgrades for the new S7 primarily focus on features and assisted driving. It sports a new diamond-shaped logo, while the exterior design remains largely consistent with the current model, featuring an All-in-One integrated design. The roof is equipped with a lidar sensor and a small blue light indicating assisted driving mode.

Inside, the cabin a brand-new two-tone design, and at the same time, it is covered with the car-grade craftsmanship of nacreous mother-of-pearl on the door panels and the center console. The front row is equipped with a 12.3-inch instrument screen and a 16.1-inch 3K central control screen. The HarmonyOS cockpit supports 3D vehicle control, a smart Xiaoyi assistant powered by the PanGu large model, and HUAWEI MagLink for rear-seat screen expansion. Additionally, the new model also features a HUAWEI SOUND 21-speaker 7.1.4 surround sound system.

For assisted driving, besides the existing suite of 1 lidar, 3 millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 11 high-definition cameras, the new LUXEED S7 comes standard with a Huawei 192-beam lidar, a rear high-precision solid-state lidar, and 4D millimeter-wave radars. It is equipped with the HUAWEI ADS 4 assisted driving system, offering parking-to-parking navigation assist and support for Parking in mechanical parking spaces.

On August 7, Chery Automobile and Huawei officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement for the LUXEED brand 2.0.

As part of this strategy, LUXEED Motors has established an independently operated new energy company. Dedicated technology and design centers have been set up in Shanghai and Shenzhen, while dual R&D engineering centers are located in Shanghai and Wuhu, forming an R&D team of over 5,000 members. Furthermore, exclusive LUXEED user centers have been established.

Mr. Yin Tongyue, Chairman of Chery Group, stated that the group’s resources will be highly prioritized towards the LUXEED brand.

AITO M8 EV Launched, Starting at RMB 359,800 ($50,100)

The all-electric AITO M8 has officially launched, offering six variants with a price range of 359,800 to 449,800 yuan.

The M8 EV measures 5190×1999×1795 mm with a wheelbase of 3105 mm, and is available in both five-seat and six-seat configurations.

In terms of space, the five-seater version offers a trunk capacity of 1086L (including a 110L hidden storage compartment), while the six-seater provides 392L (with a 39L hidden compartment) and includes a 149L frunk. According to official data, the six-seater version features a 180mm flat aisle between the second-row seats and third-row headroom of 960mm—enough for 43mm of clearance for a passenger who is 1.8 meters tall.

For power and range, the model is built on an 800V high-voltage platform and debuts Huawei’s high-voltage seven-in-one electric drive, with CLTC efficiency reaching 92.2%. It comes standard with a CATL 100 kWh battery pack. The long-range version achieves a CLTC range of 705 km, while the AWD version offers 655 km. It supports 480 kW ultra-fast charging, capable of adding over 300 km of range in just 10 minutes.

Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with Huawei’s Tuning Ling platform, front double-wishbone and rear multi-link independent suspension, and comes standard with closed dual-chamber air suspension and continuous damping adjustment. Its new Owl Steer by Wire system enables a minimum turning radius of 5.75 m.

For intelligent driving, the M8 EV is among the first to feature the HUAWEI ADS 4.0 advanced driver-assistance system, which includes a Huawei 192-line lidar, one rear high-precision solid-state lidar, and five 4D imaging radars. It supports active safety, intelligent driving assistance, and automated parking functions.

Since pre-sales began, market response has been highly positive: orders exceeded 10,000 within eight hours and reached 15,000 within 72 hours. To date, AITO has delivered over 750,000 vehicles cumulatively.

MAEXTRO S9T Set to Launch on September 16

At the launch event, Yu Chengdong officially announced that the MAEXTRO S9T will debut on September 16.

The MAEXTRO S9T measures 5160×2005×1492 mm with a wheelbase of 3050 mm, positioning it as a mid-to-large-class luxury wagon.

The model features a spacious five-seat layout. The front row is equipped with a 16.1-inch 3K central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch co-pilot entertainment screen. It is the first to include a zero-gravity passenger seat, maximizing comfort.

In terms of space, the front trunk offers 38L with an electric suction and pop-up design that opens with a double tap. The rear trunk provides up to 660L of capacity, expandable to 1677L with one-touch folding of the rear seats. Combined with the 2.0 Intelligent Projection Giant Screen system in the rear, it delivers an immersive “mobile home” experience.

Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with six smart electric doors, complete with obstacle detection and safety alert functions.

The model is available in all-electric and range-extender variants. The pure electric version offers a comprehensive range of up to 801 km, while the range-extender version can achieve up to 1305 km, accommodating a wider range of user scenarios.

For intelligent driving, the MAEXTRO S9T debuts the HUAWEI ADS 4 advanced driver-assistance system. It is fully equipped with 36 high-precision sensors including four lidars and a matrix of three distributed 4D imaging radars, along with the comprehensive Anti-Collision System 4.0.

With pre-sales starting at RMB 328,000 ($45,700), the MAEXTRO S9T targets the traditional luxury wagon segment. Its rich feature set and new-energy advantages are expected to form the backbone of its competitive edge.

Official data shows that during the pre-sale period, the MAEXTRO S9T achieved over 10,000 orders within one hour and exceeded 20,000 orders within 24 hours.

Shangjie H5 Pre-sale Starts at RMB 169,800 ($23,600)

This afternoon, the first model H5 of the all-new brand “Shangjie”, jointly created by Huawei and SAIC, officially started pre-sales with a starting price of RMB 169,800 ($23,600).

The Shangjie H5 measures 4780×1910×1664 mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2840 mm, positioning it as a mid-size SUV.

In terms of power and range, the Shangjie H5 offers both all-electric and range-extender versions. The range-extender version is equipped with a 1.5L range-extender powertrain, offering a maximum CLTC pure electric range of 230 km and a comprehensive range of over 1300 km. The all-electric version comes with two battery options: 64.6 kWh and 80 kWh, providing CLTC pure electric ranges of 535 km and 655 km, respectively.

The intelligent features are a highlight of the Shangjie H5. The model will be one of the first to feature the HUAWEI ADS 4.0 intelligent driving assistance system, which includes a 192-beam lidar and 4D millimeter-wave radar. It supports map-free urban Navigation Cruise Assist (NCA) and full-scenario automated parking, marking the first time Huawei’s high-end intelligent driving technology has been extended to the sub-RMB 200,000 ($27,900) segment.

The Shangjie H5 enters the RMB 150,000–200,000 ($20,900–$27,900) segment, one of the fastest-growing tiers in the new energy vehicle market. Competitors such as the BYD Song Plus DM-i have already dropped to around RMB 120,000 ($16,700), while newer entrants like the Deepal S7 and Leapmotor C11 are priced near RMB 150,000 ($20,900). “Huawei’s technological empowerment” is expected to serve as a key competitive edge for the Shangjie H5.

According to the plan, the new model will officially launch on September 23.
