Updated LUXEED R7 and S7 to Launch in September, Marking a Product-Intensive Month for HIMA

In September, HIMA will release at least five new models, including the new AITO M7, STELATO S9T, Shangjie H5, and updated versions of the LUXEED R7 and S7.

September will see Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA)’s most intensive round of product releases to date.

According to an exclusive report from Wandian Auto, updated versions of the LUXEED R7 and S7 will launch in September. Together with the already announced STELATO S9T, Shangjie H5, and the all-new AITO M7, HIMA will have at least five new models hitting the market that month.

This not only signals an accelerated product update cycle but also marks a pivotal moment for the brand’s repositioning.

Based on available information, the upgrades for the “dual 7” (R7 and S7) are quite significant. The R7 will feature redesigned headlights, enhanced interior comfort, and may align its intelligent driving system with the AITO M8. It will be the first to adopt Huawei’s ADS 4.0 system and dual zero-gravity seats for both front passengers, along with debuting the brand-new LUXEED logo. However, for the brand, these technical upgrades are more of a strategy aimed at reigniting market buzz.

LUXEED is a brand co-developed by HIMA and Chery and was once seen as a highly promising venture. Its first model, the LUXEED S7, missed its breakout window due to delivery issues. Subsequent iterations failed to reverse the sales slump. The LUXEED R7 launched in November last year, with monthly sales briefly peaking at 16,000 units, but then declined, dropping to just over 2,000 units by June this year.

In contrast, the AITO series remains HIMA’s sales backbone. In June, HIMA delivered 52,700 vehicles, over 80% of which—about 44,000—were AITO models. The M8 and M9 remain the current top sellers, with the M8 BEV version and the new M7 expected to roll out later this year.

The STELATO series has shown signs of stabilization this year. After launching the extended-range version of the S9, sales rebounded, reaching 4,154 units in June, making it the best-selling NEV sedan priced above ¥300,000 ($42,000). The upcoming STELATO S9T will be HIMA’s first wagon, offering both BEV and extended-range variants, and is expected to further push into the high-end market.

At the same time, BAIC is all-in on the STELATO lineup. Reports indicate that STELATO has become the core project within BAIC BJEV, with the creation of a dedicated “STELATO Business Unit” comprising a marketing center and a specialized factory, though other departments have yet to be fully staffed.

The most closely watched release is the Shangjie H5, co-developed with SAIC. It will be HIMA’s most affordable model, with pricing expected to range between ¥150,000 and ¥250,000 ($21,000–$35,000). Targeting mainstream mid-size SUVs like the VW Tiguan, Haval H6, and Honda CR-V, the H5 will also debut Huawei ADS 4.0 in this price segment for the first time.

Behind this model lies SAIC’s pivot under growing sales pressure. With significant declines in sales and profits last year, the Shangjie H5 represents a strategic trial in collaboration with HIMA.

From premium to mass-market, and from flagship to volume-oriented models, HIMA’s dense September rollout reflects not just a surge in quantity, but also a full-scale test of its system-wide capabilities.
